Essentially a less comical remake of writer Eric Roth's script of Forrest Gump, Benjamin Button is a film with a mood most magical, but a story most silly and seen before. I do believe, unlike Roger Ebert for example, that it is possible to relate with a character who ages backwards. I just don't think it's possible with this film. This Curious Case never builds to an emotional peak or a grand discovery. It's a cold, analytical story from beginning to end. In some films, such would be an achievement, but here, we already know what it will be going in. A story about a man who ages from being 80 to being 0 can have no happy ending. The film as you would expect from the title and trailer describes the life story of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) who is faced with the unusual predicament of aging backwards. Director David Fincher guides us through a series of Benjamin's life defining moments, but it is his relationship with Daisy (Cate Blanchett) that is central to the film. I was drawn in by this hugely interesting premise and keen to see how a tale that presents such obvious technical challenges would translate to the big screen. The idea of the movie is good, also the special effects. But the plot have some mistakes that is really considerable.

'nothing stays' says Daisy. and Benjamin answers: 'some things are remembered'. oh, how true this is. still there is nothing to do. but this movie remind me even if nothing stays, its good to have some memories to remember. 'some things never goes.'

In equal doses engaging, complicated and messy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a great piece of populist art. David Fincher is not a name which immediately springs to mind when one thinks of a big studio film about the ephemeral nature of life, love, age and death, but he delivers. Shots can be both beautiful and unsettling within the same few frames. Other sequences can be uplifting and beautiful before switching to heartbreak and pathos. Warmth, humor, grief and sterility are all parts of life and Fincher includes them. La historia es fantástica. De la ciencia ficción que uno disfruta porque se centra en los personajes y en los dilemas de vida. Sin embargo el relato decae y las actuaciones no me parecieron tan logradas. Tal vez iba con muchas expectativas a ver esta película y no me encontré con la resolución extraordinaria que esperaba. Me parece que los momentos de tensión no fueron acompañados de la mejor manera y se opacaron por largas secuencias que no agregaban valor.
Los efectos especiales y la fotografía se llevan la mejor parte.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button isn't too much of a curiosity. It's the same old period drama that's been told on film dozens of times. Let us recap, shall we? Boy is born, boy is abandoned by family, boy grows up with foster parents, boy meets girl, boy goes off to see the world, boy comes back to find girl, girl initially rejects boy, girl finally comes to find the boy and they live happily ever after and then both of them die. Sound curiously familiar? That's because it is. Taking away the well worn plot, the only novelty in the movie is the curious Benjamin Button himself, primarily the fact that he was born an old man who grows younger as he ages. I loved this movie. It was one of the best ones I've ever seen. The movie is captivating, with amazing cast, amazing takes, extraordinary story. You have amazing lines and quotes, you just wanna get into the movie and hug benjamin sometimes, and tell him that he is the cutest catatonic teenager in the world. You wanna get into the diary and read it faster.

Completely lovely, but too long. That's my single complain, though the 3 hours I spent watching were totaly worth it.

It was the best movie of 2009 so far. It will get definitely a couple oscar awards. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett become a great match. The story was the one of the most original one i've ever heard, i didn't know the short story before the film, i wished i could read the book, too.

The curious case is told after the fact, by the reading of Benjamin's diary. It's the story of a boy who is born with all the attributes of an old man. You could say that he has his youth stolen from him, as he has to spend his childhood as an old man, bad knees, arthritis and all. This is where the really curious part begins. He starts to notice that as time goes by, he is feeling better, feeling stronger... He is getting younger. Now I've heard people talk about how youth is wasted on the young, but this wouldn't be true in Benjamin's case. However, one never thinks of the types of problems that can arise by going against the flow of nature. Love, for one, can be difficult.
