A Wreck

I've wanted to see this film for ages, I have to say I was bitterly disappointed.
I had heard it was powerful, thought provoking and moving. Unfortunately I was left feeling angry at the overstated racial conflicts which are thrown into your face. Almost as if it had to be reinforced enough for fear of the audience ‘not quite getting it’. The film characters are explored by showing inte... read more

A good movie

This flick must be one of the most infamous winners of the Best Picture Academy Award. Indeed, back in those days, most thought that ‘Brokeback Mountain’ would win but, allegedly because it was basically dealing with gay cow-boys, it was snubbed. A part from that, the opinions towards this flick are pretty extreme. I mean, some people love it (Roger Ebert picked it up as the best movie release... read more

A gritty look at the racism rampant in the Los Angeles area, from doctors to the police to government officials to everyday people, this collection of separate, interconnected tales is a must watch. It is guaranteed to make you think.

A Movie a Day: May (31 movies items)

" Limited Release People forget that Crash is actually a good film. Because it defeated a movie, Brokeback Mountain, that was arguably much better for Best Picture, most consider it to be a bad movie. Had it lost, maybe today we'd call it a movie that should've won, instead of the best released movie on May 6th. Oh well. Honorable Mention Thor (2011)"

25 Movies That Bolshevik Gary Hates... (25 movies items)

"I remember when this movie first came out. It was hailed as this film against stereotypes and racism, when in actuality it just humanizes racists and gives them excuses to be racist. Not my thing. I understand why people watch feel good movies but why would anyone want to watch a feel bad movie...willingly and knowingly? I'll pass - and while I'm at it I'll continue to pass on the other movie of the same name by Cronenberg."

25 Movies I Hate That Everyones Else Loves (25 movies items)

"I remember when this movie first came out. It was hailed as this film against stereotypes and racism, when in actuality it just humanizes racists and gives them excuses to be racist. The film only scene with young black adults shows them as stereotypical gun toting criminals; reinforcing black stereotypes, and our stereotypical black men carjack a couple. This is the first issue with the film. Rick (Brenden 'where did my career go?' Fraiser) is afraid that prosecuting two black males will cost"

"Director: Paul Haggis Starring: Matt Dillon, Jennifer Esposito, Don Cheadle, Thandie Newton, Terrence Howard, Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser My rating:8/10 "Wait 'till you've been on the job a few more years. Look at me. " The acting is dynamite, notably by Dillon and Newton in their shocking second encounter. Despite its preachy moments, the film is amazing. Matt Dillon's performance is great."

" 20 Feb + What an amazing story + A film with multiple main characters that works.. very rare! + The burning crashed car scene.. brilliant! + Amazing acting performances - Every scene was about racism, a bit too much I think - Some scenes were really unrealistic (Hit and run with the Chinese guy)"

A good movie

“This flick must be one of the most infamous winners of the Best Picture Academy Award. Indeed, back in those days, most thought that ‘Brokeback Mountain’ would win but, allegedly because it was basically dealing with gay cow-boys, it was snubbed. A part from that, the opinions towards this flick are pretty extreme. I mean, some people love it (Roger Ebert picked it up as the best movie released in 2005, above ‘Brokeback Mountain’) and some people think it stinks pretty bad. Personally, I’m actually in between. Indeed, in my opinion, it is an intriguing movie with some good intentions but which deals very awkwardly with a very sensitive subject. The best example is this scene when Ludacris steals a care with his friend. Indeed, at first, you see those two black guys in the street ” read more
