Robin Hardy's Tales of the Bleeding Obvious

With 2010's The Wicker Tree, the long discussed but not exactly awaited not-quite-sequel to The Wicker Man - Special Edition Director's Cut (2 disc set) [DVD] [1973], only the third film in his 39-year career as director, Robin Hardy shows some technical improvement over his more rough-and-ready work on The Wicker Man and the silly and dreary The Fantasist [1986] [DVD] but is hobbled by the fact t... read more

Young Christians Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland . How innocent and wrong they are.

Movie Reviews (Part 1201-1250) (50 movies items)

" Sequel to the excellent "Wicker Man" directed by the same director and having Christopher Lee appearing in it (which is sadly only a cameo) as a new actor takes over Christopher Lee's position as Lord Summerisle even "stealing his old clothes" but he never manage to be threatening in the movie. Movie lacks tension and suspense and the script feels like a rehash of the original but lacks the wit, surprise, sex, horror and the excellent folk music. It is not as bad as the remake of "The Wicker Ma"
