Critics and audiences alike have slammed Contraband for its unoriginality and the so-called 'convoluted plot'. I personally loved the film. American remakes of foreign films are almost always something to be dreaded, but Contraband is a surprising exception to the rule. Perhaps this is because the movie was directed and produced by Baltasar Kormákur, who starred in and produced the Icelandic flick Reykjavik-Rotterdam on which Contraband is based. Also, i really do like this movie as well, normally i would not think twice about watching this at all. very basic story but has a great all around cast.

"A really dull predictable movie. The only interesting tidbit will be to see how he organizes the ending in order to make sure the getaway and loot is clean. Can't even say there is any good chase scenes or violences as these type of movies usually contain. If you like looking at Kate and Mark, I suppose that would be the only reason to watch but even then it's a stretch. Generally disappointed given the type of movie this would normally be."
