Since there was a nice open-ending in the previous installment, it was pretty obvious where this sequel would go. And, indeed, it takes place 20 years later, Cesar (the same Cesar who will show up in 'Rise...'?) is now a grown ape and apes have become slaves like predicted in the previous movie. Honestly, it was pretty lame that the whole thing exactly happened like they were told. I mean, at this... read more

At the end of the third movie, the ape Cornelius and his wife Zira were murdered by humans when they traveled back in time. However, their son, Caesar, remained behind with kind-hearted circus owner Armando, who kept the ape's existence a secret. "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" opens in 1991, after an epidemic has wiped out the dog population, and talking apes have become humans' favorite pets. But the primates endure a horrible existence, chained-up and forced to perform slave labor. Governor Breck, who rules the land with an iron fist, despises the apes and attempts to find the now fully-grown Caesar. The villainous leader's plan is to kill Caesar before the simian can cause any trouble and help his fellow apes take over the world. Caesar turns out to be a lot more intelligent than Breck expected, however, and won't put up with the governor's abuse. Before long, Caesar convinces those of his kind to stage a massive revolt against the human race...
An intelligent ape from the far future leads an Army of monkey servants in a revolt against their human masters. The fourth film in the PLANET OF THE APES series features the most explosive subtext of any film in the series, and a sleek, futuristic production design. Followed by BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. ... (more)(less)

The Ups: Action-filled. We get to see the war/riot between ape and man. It is back to a more darker storyline and no humor is present.
The Downs: It was cut and reshot by worried producers at the time (but luckily everyone can now see the complete version on Blu-Ray!), but to be honest so is the movie at little long. The acting could have been better too as the movie loses it's best actor when Ricardo Montalban leaves the screen. "

Honestly, it was pretty lame that the whole thing exactly happened like they were told. I mean, at this point, the humans knew what would happen but, still, they didn't change their plan. Still, in spite of its flaws, it was the best sequel (that I have seen so far). Indeed, you witness here the birth of Evil that it was rather intriguing. Indeed, even though Cesar is the main character, he was not exactly a good guy and that was pretty cool.read more

Common pets have died (the world over) and mankind chooses primates as their new pets. Discovering how easy they are to train leads to a mass subjection to slavery for common menial duties.
Enter Caesar, the child of Zira and Cornelius (from the previous picture), who is grown now and infiltrates the ape populace to stage a rebellion."

Ja sama paska jatkuu tässäkin, joskin tällä kertaa apinoiden kapinaan nousu on ihan ok katseltavaa. Siitäkin huolimatta sarja ei tarvitsisi tämän tapahtuman kuvittamista lainkaan oikeasti."
