Ape-alling!

(A review of Congo)Words can't describe how hilarious this film turned out. I did a little bit of research and found out that it cost $50 million to make this film. What a hoot! I hope that cheque was written exclusively to Tim Curry for his fee, as he was the only saving grace of this farcical.
Me and my friends spent most of the time debating where we'd seen all of the black actors before. Each one has gone on to better things it seems, token roles for all! Instantly charmed by the exuding charisma of Ernie Hudson from the off, I expected another film with the same sort of 'feel' as 'Outbreak'. Instead, what I got was a non-stop barage of mundane tosh intertwined with some laughable violence and a crazy ray gun. And I really mean non-stop! I think I ages about 120 years during this film, it seemed to go on forever!
Just in case further proof was needed of the non-sensical nature of the plot, right at the end after they've salvaged a diamond (then thrown it away), killed all of the blood thirsty monkeys and escaped in a hot air balloon (even though planes are shot down from the sky whenever they get near the border) a huge volcanic eruption occurs, positively eradicating a villiage ruin which had stood quite happily for thousands of years. What a coincidence!
More flaws than the empire state building, I'd recommend it to anyone!
