I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I this this movie needed to be a little campier. This is an interesting concept, the movie based on the semi-biographical novel by Chuck Barris, interweaves some of the truth about this odd man, with a spy thriller. It just didn't work for me. I managed to avoid 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind' until recently. While I enjoy watching occasional re-runs of "The Gong Show" (and think that "Palisades Park" is a fun song), I never knew enough about Chuck Barris (host of the aforementioned game show, writer of the aforementioned song, and supposed CIA assassin) to feel compelled to watch a biopic about his life.

Not so long ago, I saw 'The Monuments Men'  and even though there was a pretty good buzz about this flick before its release, it turned out to be a flop and I was really amazed about how underwhelming the whole thing was.
