I finally got around to seeing this classic. It took me a few tries, because I kept falling asleep (to be fair, I always started it late at night, while in bed, so take into consideration). After 3 tries, I finally got around to finishing it.

I had real high hopes for this classic. Being so high up in IMDb Top250, and on top of that, being called Number 1 film of ALL TIME by Am... read more

My first viewing of the film which is frequently hailed as the greatest ever made. I wasn't disappointed.I didn't expect to enjoy it that much for a first viewing. Stuff like Blade Runner, Once Upon A Time In The West and Chinatown took me several viewings for me to enjoy their brilliance. But not for this film, strangely. Cinematography. Acting. Direction. Herrmann's score (although not his great... read more

Multimillionaire newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane dies alone in his extravagant mansion, Xanadu, speaking a single word: "Rosebud". In an attempt to figure out the meaning of this word, a reporter tracks down the people who worked and lived with Kane; they tell their stories in a series of flashbacks that reveal much about Kane's life but not enough to unlock the riddle of his dying breath.

100 Greatest Golden Age Hollywood Films (100 movies items)

"Orson Welles' legendary debut feature 'Citizen Kane' is a film that seems to be more talked about than seen these days. It's easy to see why, with decade upon decade of exultant acclaim amassing into a level of hype that no film could possibly match. Worse still, because it is seen as a critic's film more than a popular crowd-pleaser 'Citizen Kane' is regularly dismissed, often by people who haven't even seen it, with a roll of the eyes and an implication that its many fans are pretentious poseu"

Phenomenal Movie Trailers (11 movies items)

" What better way to promote a movie than having the man behind the film do it himself. From Godfather's over exposition to Citizen Kane's zero exposition. It's fitting that a groundbreaking film should have a groundbreaking trailer alongside it. Some even believed the trailer was of such import that it should be a part of the man's filmography. As a behind the scenes docu-piece, it's vintage Welles. Trailer wise, I don't think it's successful. It needs a hook and people aren't just going to "

THE GREATEST EVER!

“What a fantastic movie! I have been watching the most important films since the 1920s and, when I entered the 1940s with Citizen Kane, I was impressed with the evolution of the script, dialogues and realistic performances, breaking with the moorings of the theater and facing the CINEMA , in fact, different from the previous films. Here comes the photograph with its contrast of light and well placed shadows, the depth in the images when putting, in the same frame, close and general plane with another scene happening. Not to mention the camera moves that are spectacular and innovative.

The only negative criticism I have about the film is that the ending could have been a bit better explored.” read more
