chilling film

The plot was awesome, the suspense was intense, the acting was flawless, but what sets this film apart from others is that this movie has, without a doubt, the BEST cinematography i've ever seen. If it doesnt win at least the Oscar for cinematography this year, they'd be robbed.

Nearly all the edge-of-seat suspensful scenes (and this movie has a lot of them) are shot in one conti... read more

Alfonso Cuaron shows us in this film that he is the master of long takes, and few cuts. Brilliantly cinematographed and directed, with a most excellent cast, this is a wonderful film. The bonus feature is something I rarely watch, but everyone will be curious to watch the production of one particular scene involving Kee's character, played by new actress Claire-Hope Ashitey. This is definitely THE... read more

This film seemed to be released with very little fanfare across the UK and I was apprehensive about seeing it at first. I thought it would be just another film about totalitarian carnage, fresh off the back of V for Vendetta. However, this film isn't generic at all. It's utterly chilling and particularly close to home when you live so close to some of the locations in the film.

Highly Realistic & Highly Entertaining.

“Children of men is a movie that would surprise anyone who appreciate perfection when seeing it, i don't know why nobody recommend it to me, after Gravity blown up, i decided to follow Alfonso Cuarón previous work and i end up here, and i'm glad i did, it was brilliant movie from start to finish.

Set in the far future, it's a tale of a chaotic world where human no longer have the ability to procreate, and the youngest man ever to live is 18 years old, and it's gotta be the most realistic expectation of the future ever to put on a film, because you know what, fuck technology that most movies focus about, the earth is dying and people are changing to the worse everyday, and this movie baldly shows a possibility of what could actually happen, a world with repels and conflicts, a wor” read more

"SPOILER:With a trailer that couldn't hide the story's belly-full of surprise, the entire first act became a protracted exercise in world-building. I see pregnant people!"

Moviewatcher122's 2014 Film Diary: July (37 movies items)

"July 16 "I can't really remember when I last had any hope, and I certainly can't remember when anyone else did either. Because really, since women stopped being able to have babies, what's left to hope for?" I've been wanting to see this movie for at least a couple of years not just because I think Clive Owen is a great actor, but because of the excellent premise this movie has. Knowing it was directed by Alfonso Cuarón, I knew that it was going to be well-executed. The way the future was p"

"04/06/2014 Children of Men maalailee synkkää tulevaisuudenkuvaa. Ja kauniisti maalaakin. Tylyn kauniisti siis. Tarina puskuttaa tällä tavoin myös eteenpäin, eikä hahmoihin tykästyminen vaadi minkäänlaista ponnistelua. Pitkät otot raskaine sisältöineen hiostavat."

My life in movies (104 movies items)

" 1st Place: Children of Men This movie is unbelievably well made. I really enjoyed watching it not only is the story something that draw me in but the performances by the actors were on point. Children of Men received wide critical acclaim and was recognized for its achievements in screenwriting, cinematography, art direction and innovative single-shot action sequences. Random Fact: The movie is based loosely on P. D. James's 1992 novel The Children of Men."
