It's possible that I liked this film more than it deserves, but I have no problem with that. Celeste & Jesse Forever is an unconventional romantic comedy in premise, and sometimes, though not always, in execution too. That the film can be cynical, whimsical, goofy, and thoughtful all while feeling more or less fresh works heavily in its favor. Rashida Jones eventually outshines Andy Samberg when it comes to upholding the movie and my interest. She really flexes her comedic chops in this role, "
"I really liked this movie, though I'm not sure that I loved it. It balances it's humor and drama very well. I found myself laughing a lot. The performances are pretty great all around, aside from maybe Emma Roberts who always seems to be trying a little too hard to play rebellious/alt girls. I just really like Rashida Jones in general. She's such a naturalistic performer, and her chemistry with Andy Samberg is definitely believable. When all's said and done, I'd probably recommend renting Celest"

"An interesting spin on the romance/comedy genre where two people are best friends even through divorce. I actually enjoyed Andy Samberg in a new kind of role. Elijah Wood's character was hilariously awkward in a good way. Pretty good film with a bittersweet ending. Not your typical Rom/Com.

"This movie is receiving its share of compliments for rejecting romcom cliches, but to be fair, it's not so much that it rejects cliches, but rather, it's that it chooses to show you a phase of relationships that most romcoms won't show you: life after the break-up. As a natural consequence of this, the two title characters aren't together in most scenes- this isn't automatically a bad thing, but the problem is that the movie doesn't balance things well enough, and chooses to show much more of C"
