Man, i thought that AOL™ movie 'You've Got Mail'™ was the clear 'product placement in movies' champ, but Cast Away beat it by a mile!

The Flagship

Panned by a lot of people, but I love it. Mainly because it has Tom Hanks in it and he can never put a foot wrong. Despite the gratuitous display of FedEx loving at the beginning of the film, the middle and ending sequences are really entertaining to watch. You really feel sorry for Chuck and it makes you think how you would cope in a similar situation.

Tom Hanks's first strongest work after Forrest Gump, this Robert Zemeckis directed flick is a true winner. He has done 2 live-films with Hanks, above mentioned, and both are solid winners. Cast Away is one of those performance driven films with a heavy dramatic tone to it and several emotional scenes which makes you glad that you're not in their shoes, in this case, Chuck Noland, the film's hero.<... read more

“Cast Away is a story of survival not only externally but internally, you follow the story of Chuck Noland just your average joe. While on his way home his plane crashs onto a island, where the drama unfolds. At first it is all about finding food, shelter and basic needs. Then it becomes mental survival, you watch Chuck find his way in nomands land, a place where you not only have to survive to stay alive, but also survive to stay sane. Then the big one comes, he eventually is rescured then you watch what happens when he comes back to reality. This is a really good film, yes most of the time your with Tom Hanks but he is a good actor so why not spend some time watching him. With a interesting story, you wont be dissapointed.” read more

" The Ups: It is a great-looking modern "Robinson Crusoe" movie. Production-wise without a flaw. The Downs: Tom Hanks overdose. It feels like a one-man show where he show to the world how great he is. While I like Hanks and the concept there is just too many scenes where he talks, screams and do something "heartfelt" which make me feel that the story and acting is manipulated too much on audience response and not written naturally. I question our hero's sexlife during the years on the island"
