“In the 100+ history of cinema, two decades, to me, stand out as the greatest, in terms of visionary achievement and cinematic milestones: The 40's and the 70's. I know, I know, many of you would beg to differ but that's just how I see it. The 40's had a glorious, unique touch to it while the 70's was cluttered with iconic moments here and there. Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz, was released in 1942, thus giving us one of the reasons to love the 40's. The reason why the film is so thoroughly enjoyed is because everyone, and everything, was so damn good. Every performance lived up to the game, every dialogue was worth repeating, every scene had weight in them and every object that changed hands had either a mystery to it or significance. That, and more, is what makes Casablanca a pere” read more

A classic

“I have actually seen this one when I was younger but I can’t say I was really blown away so I thought it was time for a re-watch, to make up my mind for good. And, indeed, I now understand why it is so loved. I mean, it still is not one of my favorites but it is sure a really solid feature which completely deserves its reputation. It is interesting to notice that nobody involved, the director, the actors, the producers thought it would be a success and it was just yet another small production which was supposed to disappear pretty quickly at the box-office. Of course, it turned out to be a huge blockbuster. Personally, I really enjoyed the look of the whole thing. Some people don’t like black and white pictures but they really don’t know what they are missing, especially these everla” read more

The Best of 40's (40 movies items)

" 1940's is the decade of the most iconic films ever made. Without a doubt, Casablanca is one of these most iconic films in the film history and it is such a cliché to include this film in this kind of lists. But that is a cliché that I wasn't even planning to avoid. Two incredible actors - Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman - together in the same film and having one of the greatest love stories ever. Mystery in the story is thrilling and so the whole film has its own atmosphere."

these dialogues make me see the movie again!!! (36 movies items)

"Rick: Last night we said a great many things. You said I was to do the thinking for both of us. Well, I've done a lot of it since then, and it all adds up to one thing: you're getting on that plane with Victor where you belong. Ilsa: But, Richard, no, I... I... Rick: Now, you've got to listen to me! You have any idea what you'd have to look forward to if you stayed here? Nine chances out of ten, we'd both wind up in a concentration camp. Isn't that true, Louie? Captain Renault: I'm afraid Major "
