I loved it! I'm not a Nicolas Cage fan at all, but for once I was really impressed by his performance as the frustrated, alcoholic, heartbroken paramedic in Scorsese's New York. I also found it technically gorgeous, a real pleasure for the eyes.

One of the best and most underrated movies of Scorsese's.

In my opinion, it is easily the most underrated movie directed by Martin Scorsese. When it was released, it was barely noticed and didn't get much love and even nowadays it is a considered one of Scorsese's minor efforts. "I'm not sure how an the highest echelon crew can make such a messy and not-great film. Scorsese has all his best on this project and it's somehow a disappointment. I think the acting was their biggest issue. I'm not sure why they chose who they did."
