Borat Review

Posted : 1 year, 11 months ago at Dec 2 5:18
Not as funny as I thought it would be, actually I found it to be a bit drawn out, but there were still some scenes that were, well not quite but more or less, bordering on hilarious. It is one of those movies where you really need a sense of humour, be very open minded and not mind a bit of stupidity (and a fair bit of nudity) to watch it without being offended.
So basically if you aren't open minded then there's no need to watch this because it is crude. Don't even bother contemplating it.

Funny Stuff

Hello my name a borat i come from a Kazakhstan.
High Five!

This movie is freaking hillarious! Buut you have to see it to believe it!
Borat was waaaaaaay better than Ali G in my oppinion. Sacha Baron Cohen Is the funniest ever though!

I can't get his voice out of my head.
There are so many funny parts in this movie, too many to mention,,
There is only one thing to critisise about this movie. Two Naked men wrestling is not entertaining. Apart from that, genious!

'What's up with it, Vanilla face? Me and my homie Azamat just parked our slab outside. We're looking for somewhere to post up our Black asses for the night. So, uh, bang bang, skeet skeet, nigga. Just a couple of pimps, no hos.'

Worse than I thought it would be

This movie is absolutely horrible. My wife has been wanting me to watch it for her since it was in the movie theatre, and I have continually been saying that I would hate the movie. I don't like seeing other people ridiculed, made fun of, or embarrassed, and this movie contained plenty of this. I don't care if "Borat" was making a statement about the hyprocrisy of modern American life or not, this movie only made me want to leave. I did watch the entire movie, only leaving twice when I couldn't watch certain scenes. I was unable to watch when Borat brought the prostitute to his high society dinner, and I refused to watch Borat at the revival meeting. This movie should not be watched.

Just drags on and on

At the beginning, it's very funny. Hilariously funny. But eventually the same joke over and over gets tiring. Maybe I'll finishing watching it... maybe not...

Great movie that will make you think

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago at Feb 6 2:23
Yes, it will make you think a lot. It will make you think about America. It will make you think about the western ideals superpower nations flood the world with. It will make you think about racism, bigotry, western feminism, anti-semitism,poverty in third world countries, sexism and all the wrong things about this world.

It's a very reflective movie with tons of irony. Borat himself is an irony because Sacha Baron Cohen, a British actor and a Jew plays him.

Borat challenges the viewer to rethink their perceptions about certain things. We may say and think that we are cultured individuals because we have been educated on western education but perhaps we may act otherwise in front of a "backward" man like Borat.

Nonsense

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago at Jan 28 17:02
I read a lot about "satire", "political correctness", "shocking" and so on, but as DerMika pointed out already: I got much more from reading about this movie than from watching it.

Standing naked in an elevator or scaring the hell out of pam didn't make me love and I don't consider the just seen "satire", its just plain old nonsense, the referal to jackass hits it.

Four points though for the few spotlights even this movie had.

This movie had some very funny moments and was good for a few laughs. I wouldn't recommend this movie as a must see. I got in for free and thats about what I would pay to see it. I would wait for cable to see this one. If you have seen the trailers for the movie, you have seen pieces of all the funny bits in the movie. The only scenes you have missed are the ones with nudity. And gentleman were not talking about beautiful women showing off their wares. If you like seeing men's behinds, you'll like the nude scenes which were pretty funny. If you are sensitive to religious parodies, I wouldn't watch this film.

He Not So Funny

Posted : 3 years ago at Nov 10 15:50
"Has this man made the funniest movie ever"? No. Not even close. Don't get me wrong, there are some hilarious uncomfortable moments and the exploitation of Middle America was great, but it wasn't enough to support Borat's cross-country motives as the film just lacked a storyline worthy of the hype.

What made Borat so great on Da Ali G Show was Sacha Baron Cohen's moderate use of the character. An hour and a half of the accent and mannerisms became a real annoyance as I begged for Ali G or Brüno to show up and reclaim my interest. Overall, I would class it along with recent slapstick comedic documentaries such as the Jackass Movie series, but I could hardly make an attempt to place it anywhere near my top 25 comedies of all time.

A bit disappointing but still not bad.

I went to see this movie after having seen the trailer. I was expecting a funny movie with painful conversations, but I left the theatre with the feeling that I had seen the best parts of the movie in the trailer already.

Of course the movie is hilarious, especially the parts where politically correct Americans try to communicate with this "figure from Kazachstan" without getting disgusted with him or his ideas. Or the parts where he meets Americans who are even bigger racists or woman-haters than himself. It's a shame these moments are too few.

Warning: If you have a problem with nudity do not see this film. If you have a problem with male nudity do not see this film. If you have a problem with male on male nudity do not see this film. If you have a problem with ugly ass male on male nudity do not see this film. You have been warned. Send a reporter from a 'backwards' country to the United States to interview people to learn about the American culture and way of life. Of course the reporter isn't really from Kazakstan, in fact not a reporter at all but a comedic actor...but the people he's interviewing don't know it. At first look (and probably second, and third, and those couple where you just didn't want to look or even admit you have eyes) this movie seems to be about seeing just how much you can get past the ce...Read more

Sehr gute Satire

Posted : 3 years, 1 month ago at Oct 17 5:16
