An important landmark masterpiece!

"This here's Miss Bonnie Parker. I'm Clyde Barrow. We rob banks."

For better or worse, American cinema was everlastingly revolutionised the day that Arthur Penn's violent, stunningly-photographed landmark feature Bonnie and Clyde was released to an unsuspecting movie-going public. It would be judicious to state that critics were irrationally unfair towards the film, which was promin... read more

In the middle of the Great Depression, Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty) and Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway) meet when Clyde tries to steal Bonnie's mother's car. Bonnie, who is bored by her job as a waitress, is intrigued with Clyde, and decides to take up with him and become his partner in crime. They do some holdups, but their amateur efforts, while exciting, are not very lucrative.

To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie and maybe I should re-watch it some point. Since this movie had a really impressive reputation, I had some rather high expectations but it is often tricky with such old classics. Indeed,  they might have groundbreaking when they were released but it is not always the case when you watch them decades later. Well, there was nothing to w... read more

Clyde has dreams of a life of crime that will free him from the hardships of the Depression. The two fall in love and begin a crime spree that extends from Oklahoma to Texas. They rob small banks with skill and panache, soon becoming minor celebrities known across the country. To the law, the two are evil bank robbers who deserve to be gunned down where they st ... (more)

Movies the giraffe watched in 2017: May (28 movies items)

"First viewing - May 13th Bonnie & Clyde was even better than I'd remembered, a wonderful alternate version of their lives full of great performances. It's damn near perfect as movies go, yet didn't quite earn a perfect score from me. I definitely won't go as long without revisiting it again, as I hadn't seen it since I was a teenager & had forgotten some of it. Just a thought: Faye Dunaway is insanely gorgeous in this movie."

Movies Of 2017 (125 movies items)

"Nothing special to say about this than only I finally saw it and liked. Good classic flick! Lot of gun shooting and car chases. Plus that one brutal looking head shot through car window which was filmed without cuts. Looked great and was really rare to see that kind of violance in movies on that time period when film censure was more stricted than these days."

“To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie and maybe I should re-watch it some point. Since this movie had a really impressive reputation, I had some rather high expectations but it is often tricky with such old classics. Indeed,  they might have groundbreaking when they were released but it is not always the case when you watch them decades later. Well, there was nothing to worry about this movie as it was pretty damned entertaining. Indeed, back then, it was quite a controversial feature but, even 50 years later, it is still very dynamic and terribly effective. The other thing I really liked with this movie is that they took a famous story but, instead of trying to as factual as possible, they gave it a very modern twist and focusing more on providing a strong tale. ” read more
