I have always felt that Casino Royale was the best book in Ian Fleming's 007 series, it featured a Bond who was noticeably different to that in the films that followed, a more human Bond. Daniel Craig captures the essence of Fleming's Bond better than any, including Connery for my money.

" The Ups: Direct sequel to "Casino Royale" is a good thing. Olga Kurylenko has a fascinating back-story and is great to look at. Solid acting. The Downs: Typical "Vendetta" story seen numerous times before. Action scenes are hard to follow as the camera shakes and twists every time something happens. Colorless villains. One of the worst title songs not only in Bond-history but in film history. "

"3/9/13 Rewatch I have no idea why this film gets such a bad rap with some fans of Bond; it's good...hell, it's great! Picking up right after the events of Royale, it follows Bond's continued search for revenge for the death of Vesper, whom he fell in love w/ in the previous film. That's what this film is all about - revenge. Not only for Bond but for Camille (played marvelously by the enchanting Olga Kurylenko). It's darker, drier and more...stark. But it's fitting w/ revenge as the underlying"
