The best Sci-Fi movie ever

It is definitely my favorite Science Fiction flick and one of my favorite movies of all time. I have seen all the movies directed by Ridley Scott and it is easily his best one. Indeed, the look and the mood were great, the story was just plain fascinating and the cast was awesome. Back then, Harrison Ford was in the zone, and everything he touched turned into gold (Indiana Jones and the Temple of ... read more

I really don’t understand what all the fuss is about with Blade Runner. It is quite often quoted as the best Sci Fi film of all time as well as Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott’s best, but personally I find it duller than dishwater.
The last two times I tried to watch it, I fell asleep approximately 40 minutes in. Today I managed to make it to the end, but kind of wished I hadn’t bother... read more

25 From 82: My Favorite Films Of 1982 (25 movies items)

"Almost a decade & a half earlier before Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey was one the first films to successfully marry the big budget sci-fi with a genre of a different theme (that of psychological thriller) so that all the high tech flashiness of science fiction acted as a contrasting backdrop to a darker side that resided underneath all the complicated buttons & wires of futuristic technology. Then came Ridley Scott's Alien, which did the same for the darkside of sci-film, but now more in "

"17.3 DVD rewatched I read novel "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" lately so decided to rewatch this too. And I liked the movie even more, obviously because reading gave me more background but also because the story is different between book and movie. "

Film Journal - February 2014 (110 movies items)

" How does one describe, Blade Runner? On one hand, it's a very influential sci-fi movie, it's also a stark, moody, dreary, film, that for some might take a while to get into. I know that it was diffently the case for me. I didn't like the film, at first, but after it quickly back one of my favorite films. "

REAL Sci-fi

"Blade Runner" is how a science fiction film SHOULD be made, as a speculative thinker, not as a silly disposable piece of throwaway camp like "Star Wars" (yes, I dissed George Lucas' Magnum Opus. I can see you fanboys writing that down.) I won't place this on the pillar of perfect science fiction like "Firefly" ('cause I just won't,) but the creativity of the whole enterprise shines through, past the dark sets and blackened hearts of the characters.

Early in the 21st Century (yep, folks, we should be seeing some crazy shit real soon,) Tyrell Industries has refined the android model to the brink of perfection. These beings, called 'replicants,' are man-made entities virtually identical to the human but used for all the dirty work- war, prostitution, dangerous jobs. The” read more
