''Do you think if you get General Aidid, we will simply put down our weapons and adopt American democracy? That the killing will stop? We know this. Without victory, there will be no peace. There will always be killing, see? This is how things are in our world.''

A solid decent war film that follows the US siege of the Somalian city Mogadishu. Starts with us all getting acquainted ... read more

Terrifyingly Realistic

This movie is above all nerve-racking. But what else did I expect from a war movie..? It's cruelly realistic but very well done. The acting is altogether more than convincing and the music matches the situations. I sat there watching it and half of the movie I was like: "Oh shit oh shit [...]", shivering and clenching my teeth non-stop and holding my head. The different emotions in war are amazing... read more

An important, groundbreaking war movie

"Once that first bullet goes past your head, politics and all that shit just goes right out the window."

Once released in 1998, Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan ushered in a new type of war film for the mainstream market. The days of war movies containing sanitary, romanticised imagery of the battlefield had come to an end, and in their place were visceral, gritty war pictures... read more

Movie Reviews (1151-1200) (50 movies items)

" A scary war horror movie about what happens when one goes into a weapon conflict in a different world. Editing, music and direction is top notch and makes one feel in the middle of this chaos of hunger, violence, madness and gruesome violence in one of the more realistic street fighting action sequences I have seen. It doesn't have a happy American ending either where they solve all the world's problems. I also like it's unique African setting making this a film that stand out when compared to "

"Re-Watched 01/07/2017 Rating 7.5/10 Format: Blu Ray With its top notch gritty action and packing a surprisingly emotional punch despite it lack of character development Black Hawk Down stands as one of the best war films from the 2000's. "

A good movie

“To be honest, I always had some mixed feelings about this flick. In fact, I actually saw the damned thing in the movie theater when it was released. Back then, I thought it was a decent watch but nothing really mind-blowing. However, since I kept hearing some great thing about the damned thing (according to IMDb, it is apparently easily one of the best movie directed by Ridley Scott) so I started to wonder if I missed maybe something the first time around so I rewatched it a few years later. Well, eventually, even after a re-watch, I still had the same feeling about this movie. I mean, sure, the cast was just impressive (Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, Tom Sizemore, Eric Bana, William Fichtner, Ewen Bremner, Sam Shepard, Hugh Dancy, Ioan Gruffudd, Jason Isaacs, Jeremy Piven, Nikolaj Coster-W” read more
