Surfing is just the climax of a dearest moment in life, and the Big Swell you wait for is a symbol of whatever can be great and beautiful and free...

Then, it is a film about how you feel when everything has to change.

Great story, great acting, great photography, great music. It's set in California in the years of rebellion and of Vietnam war, but its essence is out of time.
