An apocalyptic love story for the Mad Max generation, Evan Glodell’s impressive feature debut paints a classic, yet urgently contemporary, tale of the destructive power of love.
Bellflower follows two friends who spend their time building flamethrowers and other weapons in the hope that a global apocalypse will occur and clear the runway for their imaginary gang, Mother Medusa, to reign supreme. While waiting for the destruction to commence, one of them meets a charismatic young woman and falls in love—hard. Quickly integrating into a new group of friends, the pair set off on a journey of betrayal, love, hate, and extreme violence more devastating than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.
With highly stylized photography and editing, Bellflower is an exhilarating, character-driven joyride. Fueling this narrative with fantastic imagery and extraordinary performances, writer/director/actor Glodell elevates the ordinary experiences of friendship and romance into the stuff of legend. —Sundance Film Festival ... Two friends spend all their free time building flame-throwers and weapons of mass destruction in hopes that a global apocalypse will occur and clear the runway for their imaginary gang "Mother Medusa".
I have been wanting to see this Indie film for awhile. The trailer showed an interesting style of filming that I had not really seen with the lighting. This was directed and written by the lead star Evan Glodell in his first feature film for all three categories. The acting and dialogue wasn't a"

Wow, this was a different movie. The beginning of the movie took me by surprise. It was a pretty interesting movie, but it wasn't a masterpiece. I had this weird feeling a couple of times where I felt like hating the movie even though I really don't. This film won't suit everyone's tastes, but I still thought it was pretty good. I don't know if it's just me, but I really like the way the movie ended."

This is certainly a memorable film and far more complex then just a mild surface viewing. There was a point where I really wanted to hate the film but I stuck with the film and began to feel a sense of poetry in the chaos.
This is a film that I may have to watch again. I also watched this after watching "Blue Valentine" which I really didn't like at all. So, this film filled a nice void that was left b"

"Ok, I'm putting all her shit in a box so you don't have to stare at it anymore, and then when you're feeling well enough we're gonna burn it." - Aiden
Bellflower was an interesting movie - it started out like Wayne's World on acid, with two friends spending their time drinking, building flame throwers, working on post apocalyptic cars and meeting girls by participating in bug eating contests - I really liked the friendship "

Ah, yep. One of those attention-grabbing, up-start, genre-bending indie movies that I really wanted to like, but never quite could. There's a list of things to applaud, but an equal size list of "shit that annoyed me". The shit that annoyed me eventually won out, and I'm afraid that's what has stayed with me.
I don't quite think it warrants the comparisons to Quentin Tarantino or Danny Boyle, but even so, the film interested me enough to keep my eye out for this director in future. "

"Angry young boys and slo-mo and mad max cars and poon tang and more anger and alcohol and unemployment and young love and fickle feelings and fucking flamethrowers.
