I think I finally understand the appeal of Kim Novak. Her passive performance in Picnic left me cold on her, and her wishy-washy turn in Pal Joey left me thinking that she was gorgeous with a unique visual take on the icy blonde, but no great actress. I still don’t think she’s a great talent, but she has a certain chilliness and intellect in the right role that’s very bewitching. Vertigo bei... read more

It's a Kim Novak tribute on TCM tonight and I'm enjoying it immensely! This magical romance is one of my favorites! As an interesting item-of-note, the pairing of Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak here marked a departure for him from romances (for the most part) due to critique about the age difference between him and his leading ladies. Silly critics! ;P Don't they know that love is blind?
