Comic Book Movies I've Seen - From Best to Worst (51 movies items)

"This includes some of my favorite villains of all time: the Penguin! Danny De Vito's acting performance is the best in the series. This is as dynamic visually as most of the other Burton's movies but this is also critical which makes it special. For example, we see how rich people are partying and they leave their children home alone. Very bad thing to do when there's the Penguin in the city... "

DC Comics - Film Adaptations (46 movies items)

"Based on the comic book: "Batman" © DC Comics. Having defeated the Joker, Batman now faces the Penguin - a warped and deformed individual who is intent on being accepted into Gotham society. Crooked businessman Max Schreck is coerced into helping him become Mayor of Gotham and they both attempt to expose Batman in a different light. Earlier however, Selina Kyle, Max's secretary, is thrown from the top of a building and is transformed into Catwoman - a mysterious figure who has the same persona"

We're #2! (54 movies items)

"Not as good as the original (after all the original has Jack Nicholson) but Danny DeVito does a good job as the Penguin. Diferent from the comic books (in the comics, the Killer Croc is much more similar to the Penguin played by DeVito here) but very good. Even scary at times. But Michelle Pfeiffer is perfect. Keaton is the best Bruce Wayne/Batman to date (even better than Christian Bale). Tim Burton's direction is also worthy of recognition, though Nolan's direction put Batman in a more "real""

Nameless' Movie Diary 2009 (367 movies items)

"11.02. Helposti paras Batman. Välillä aika synkkä, mutta hauskoja (vaikkakin aika typeriä) one-linereita ei ole unohdettu. Keaton on hyvä, De Vito myös, mutta välillä jotenkin ärsyttävä ja Pfeiffer keskiverto (kiva häntä katsella ainakin on)."

"Nominated by Kryptic Centurion Oswald 'The Penguin' Cobblepot Portrayed by Danny DeVito. Gruesome, terrifying and calculating. I just can’t get over how deranged he looks. DeVito played this part with every inch of his being and one of his best performances to date. The Penguin was abandoned at a young age and grew up in a world that shunned him. Now he is back to strike the fear back into the upper classes How could anyone not fear this demonic version of the gentleman of crime? Most Noto"

Sequels that rocked (12 movies items)

"Tim Burton followed the smash Batman movie with a darker and more satisfying sequel. Batman movies tend to about the villains and this one was no exception. Michelle Pfieffer did a great turn as Catwoman, playing up both her strong and vulnerable sides. The man who stole the show was Danny DeVito as the Penguin, playing the character to creepy perfection. Unfortunately, this movie alienated the kiddie audience that buys the toys and led to the disastrous run by Joel Schumacher on the next two Ba"

Burton impresses again!

“"Just relax. I'll take care of the squealing, wretched, pinhead puppets of Gotham!"

Three years following Tim Burton's brilliant neo-gothic reinvention of Batman for the big screen, the outstanding director once again preserved his incredible nightmarish version of Gotham City on film with the much-awaited sequel, Batman Returns. In tradition with the law of a highly successful film, executives at Warner Bros. demanded a follow-up. Thankfully, director Tim Burton returned to fulfil the directing duties, with the exceptional Michael Keaton portraying the title role. Batman Returns can't match the brilliance of Burton's 1989 Batman, but it certainly served its purpose at the box office. It's virtually impossible to dislike director Tim Burton. His unique talent for eerie films is a” read more

"Nominated by GemLil I just love how dark Tim Burton made the reinvention of Batman. This is the best of Tim Burton's Batman films, Danny DeVito somehow makes the penguin menacing despite his size and birdy-ness."
