Phenomenal filmmaking...

"Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

When director Tim Burton grasped the reigns of the first serious screen manifestation of the DC Comics superhero, The Dark Knight (a.k.a. Batman), fans were understandably slightly nervous considering the director's little prior experience as a filmmaker. If one inspects director Burton's current rÃ... read more

This film rules!, it's really good, I wasn't expecting anything to be good about this film...boy was I WRONG! It's brilliant also having such acting talents such as Jack Nicholson really does make it even better, excellent film. Would be ideal for not only Batman fans but for action movie fans and basically a person who loves to watch a good freakin' movie!!!.

This is one of my favo... read more

"Superhero intervention Superheroes tend to be the kinds of douchebags who wait until the last fraction of a second to save an innocent pedestrian from being mugged in a dark alley. Very often this event takes place early in the movie, when the hero is starting out. You know, a little stretch and warm-up before tackling the big shots. Also, this is usually a fairly insignificant moment to the plot as it is, as I mentioned above, about stopping a grocery store robber or some other minor punk. Ye"

Films and the critics who hate them (732 movies items)

"The conceptual side of the movie--two rather sick two-sided antagonists having it out in a black and sordid context -- lingers. - Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader The wit is all pictorial. The film meanders mindlessly from one image to the next, as does a comic book. It doesn't help that the title character remains such a wimp even when played by Michael Keaton. - Vincent Canby, New York Times A triumph of design over story, style over substance - a great-looking movie with a plot you can'"

Movie Reviews (part 5) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: It made "Batman" serious again and made the figure more gothic, darker and a superhero again after we laughed ourselves hilarious of that camp series from the 60s and started the beginning of the superhero wave that reached it's peak in these days. Great music and atmosphere was the movie's strongest contributions. The Downs: The script is simple especially compared to the later reboot and Jack Nicholson is too much himself in clown-makeup and more funny than menacing. "
