Phenomenal filmmaking...

"Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

When director Tim Burton grasped the reigns of the first serious screen manifestation of the DC Comics superhero, The Dark Knight (a.k.a. Batman), fans were understandably slightly nervous considering the director's little prior experience as a filmmaker. If one inspects director Burton's current r... read more

Tim Burton's Batman film has to be regarded as one of the greatest made about the dark knight. Michael Keaton is surprisingly good in his role as Batman, playing the charming, spoilt and supposedly naive Bruce Wayne, but it is Jack Nicholson's performance as The Joker that steals the show.

This version isn't a camp, completely over-the-top comedy action film like Batman & Robin. It'... read more

Tim Burton Films - Ranked and Why (19 movies items)

" It's actually a bit unfair to compare it to Christopher Nolan's masterful trilogy. Mainly because those films are on a whole other level, but also because they are made in two completely different decades. Tim Burton's version of Batman ain't as pitch black as Nolan's films, but it is still pretty dark compared to other superhero films. And like I've mentioned previously, I prefer dark superhero films. Particularly the anti-hero aspect of Batman. Burton does with great skill manage to create a "

Just epic

“Batman is one of the most famous superheroes ever, he is portrayed by Michael Keaton in a movie 'Batman' which is just epic

'Batman' has great acting (Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl, Pat Hinge, Billy Dee Williams), epic action scenes and very good directing from Tim Burton

The Joker is a strong villain and one of the best movie villains ever while Batman is just a great superhero” read more

PROPER BATMAN

“This film rules!, it's really good, I wasn't expecting anything to be good about this film...boy was I WRONG! It's brilliant also having such acting talents such as Jack Nicholson really does make it even better, excellent film. Would be ideal for not only Batman fans but for action movie fans and basically a person who loves to watch a good freakin' movie!!!.

This is one of my favourite movies, it's better then any other new mainstream Batman today, that's for sure.” read more

Happy Vader posted a review 2 years, 3 months ago

“Gotham City is witnessing its most darkest, and coldest, night in living history. Christopher Nolan stands on the rooftops next to the bat-signal, waiting for his harsh-voiced detective to appear. Sipping on his cup of coffee, Nolan looks into the distance and thinks to himself, "Why am I rebooting Batman? Oh yes, because of those Schumacher disasters.", he pauses to take another sip. Then his mind races back to 1989, the year where the superhero-genre was born. In 1977 the first superhero film was released, Superman, appropriate enough, since Superman was also the first comic book hero. The red-and-blue immortal has to be on the top of everything. It is Batman, however, that was - and still is - deserving of being called as the movie that laid out all the blueprints to which future superh” read more
