So this is the latest installment in the Barbershop series so I watched all the others this weekend to be able to check this one out. Malcolm D. Lee has directed mediocre to average films with nothing particularly all that memorable. This is the first film from both the writers. I am glad to see many people return to the series. I miss some of the ones who didn't though I do like the new additions... read more

It's been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin's Barbershop. Calvin and his longtime crew are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, our once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavor, drama and gossip to the shop challenging the fellas at every turn. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and our crew to come together to not only save the shop, but their neighborhood.

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- August 2016 (28 movies items)

" DVD- 1hr. 52min. First Viewing Barbershop: The Next Cut is essentially a hang-out movie; just two hours of being with characters spending their time working and talking with each other. Luckily, the film uses these interactions to a shine a light on several topics that prominent for both African-Americans and the nation as a whole. The film does so with surprising wit and sincerity, leading to a fun viewing experience. There are certainly issues to the film; it's a bit too long, it's a bit too "

"When: June 6th First-Time Viewing: Yes. How: DVD from the library. What'd I Think?: Well intentioned, at times very smart, and funny, but also flawed, somewhat disjointed. My Rating: 7/10 Other Notes: NA."

I miss some of the ones who didn't though I do like the new additions. I swear they changed his son's name in this entry. I could have sworn it was like Cody and now it's Jalen. I wonder why they changed his hair. That was a part of Eddie's character. Isaac is back which I think is pretty cool. I wish it was more than a glorified cameo though. That's an interesting new look to the shop. The gang element is an interesting idea for the plot. I love Nicki Minaj screw ” read more

From The Superb To The Crap - Movies Seen In 2016 (284 movies items)

"This is the 3rd in the Barbershop series-not counting the Queen Latifah spin-off, Beauty Shop in 2005. The first one was in 2002 and the second in 2004 so it has been about 12 years since the last one.
