Enrique (Fele Martinez) is a director. One day he knocks on the door of an ambitious young man with a script in his hands. Is Igknasio (Gael García Bernal), an old schoolmate of Enrique from Catholic school, carrying the moments of the hard childhood in a scenario and asks Enrique to read. The scenario is the history of tender moments between the two boys and abuse by the priest Igknasio school .... read more

Pedro Almodavar's 'Bad Education' provides a spellbinding insight into how reality is transformed by fantasy. The film takes a little time to find it's stride, but WOW does it hit you for six when it does. The cinematography here is equally breath-taking, the use of vibrant colours framed by typical film noir neutrals. The performances are great all-round, especially Garcia-Bernal who impressively... read more

Pedro Almodovar is one of those directors that I have always admired but he never became a personal favorite of mine. Indeed, he is what you can call a real author who has created his own style and, therefore, he always got my respect but, honestly, I always had a hard time with his work. However, this time, this time, I was quite fascinated by this movie, above all, at the beginning. Unfortunatel... read more

Dear Cinema Diary - Vol 3 E9a - etc 2012 (76 movies items)

" After watching "Talk to Her", it was sort of nice to get back to wild and complicated Almodóvar that I know and love. I actually got a little lost and started the film over from the beginning after hiding the cheesy-puffs so that I wouldn't get distracted. I like the film and I especially love how well this film works as a mirror of the film "The Skin I Live In". How the main character of the film is actually not present in the film. Just the memories and ideals that have shaped an identity "

January Movie Journal - Xanadon't (35 movies items)

" Netflix Mail I'd heard for some time that this is a highly controversial film, but to be honest I didn't find anything in it to be overly shocking or boundary-pushing. I mean, it's dark, yes, and like so many of Almodovar's films it runs the gamut as far as its exploration of sexuality and the blurry, even fluid, boundaries therein. This one's a bit of a stranger and darker jigsaw puzzle than much of his other work. And it's pretty satisfying how everything finds a way of shaping up in une"

A good movie

“Pedro Almodovar is one of those directors that I have always admired but he never became a personal favorite of mine. However, this time, this time, I was quite fascinated by this movie, above all, at the beginning. Unfortunately, later on, as usual with Almodovar’s work, the story kind of lost focus, dealing with some weird charaters with the usual eccentric behaviors. Still, the acting, especially by Gael Garcia Bernal, was quite amazing. Indeed, it was quite impressive to see this Mexican actor in a Spanish production and it is a real pity the guy never really broke through like I was hoping. On top of that, Almodov” read more
