"Bad Boy Bubby is a rather disturbing film that handles basically every taboo subject possible. Its playful attitude and pitch-black humor, though appropriate in many instances, is just plain awkward in others. After the first third, which is particularly unsettling, the narrative explodes into a whirlwind of predicaments, which really serve little purpose and rarely gives insight into its protagonist. Joskus vastaan tulee sellaisia elokuvia, joista on kuullut hyvin paljon, mutta loppujen lopuksi niistä tietää hyvin vähän. Bad Boy Bubby on juuri tällainen elokuva. En oikeastaan tiennyt pahemmin mitään tästä, mutta moni eri taho oli kehunut tämän maasta taivaaseen. Taidankin liittyä tuohon kehujien sakkiin, sillä elokuva oli todella mieleenpainuva kokemus. De Heer on ohjannut hämmentävän kokonaisuuden, joka kertoo Bubby –nimisestä lapsentasolle jääneest"
