Azumi 2: Death or Love (2005)

Not quite as good as is predecessor, but still thoroughly entertaining. The survivors of the assassin group from the original film continue on their quest to eradicate war mongering generals. This time, Azumi enlists the help of a band of robin hood-esque theives on her travels, one of whom looks exactly like her love interest from the previous film.

The plot doesn't feel as free-flowing as the original film, probably thanks to the ridiculous skills of the bodyguards enlisted to protect the warmongering samurai. The action scenes are still top notch though. Despite teeing itself up for a huge ruck to rival the finale of Azumi, the film doesn't actually just repeat the gore-fest, which I thought was quite admirable.
