Teetering on the edge of overwhelming ennui, the woman pays a man (Rocco Siffredi) to join her for a daring, four-day exploration of sexuality in which both reject all convention and smash all boundaries while locked away from society in an isolated estate. Only when the man and woman confront the most unspeakable aspects of their sexuality will they have a pure understanding of how the sexes view one another. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi... (more)(less)
"Anatomy of Hell??..., it's right... this film is the hell for most people, especially Men, what's more nightmare to men than menses.
Yes, she's the bitch, she wants to take control to masculinity. She act princess and she pay him money. It's kind of Catherine Breillat's films, Bitchy at Cinema!
I didn't hate this film but it's kind of film that I have no desire to watch it for a second time.

Dour and self-important, this film seems to go to great lengths to resist appreciation. It's the dialogue that really tripped me up, rather than the intense images. Most of the film focuses on two characters. And most of the time they speak to one another in lofty, obtusely philosophical generalities that don't really point toward any truths or insights. This isn't how two people talk, and it's not how effective essays about sexual-politics are written either, so, what then?
This is my first"

"A man rescues a woman from a suicide attempt in a gay nightclub. Walking the streets together, she propositions him: She'll pay him to visit her at her isolated house for four consecutive nights. There he will silently watch her. He's reluctant, but agrees. As the four nights progress, they become more intimate with each other, and a mutual fascination/revulsion develops. By the end of the four-day "contract", these two total strangers will have had a profound impact on each other.

"10.9. DVD
Breillatin elokuvaa lähdin tutkimaan mielenkiinnolla. Catherine Breillatia, Bruno Dumontia ja Gaspar Noéta kuvaillaan tämän päivän iskevimmiksi ranskalaisohjaajiksi (Noélla argentiinalaisjuuret tosin). Jokaisella on oma tyylinsä ja tästä kolmikosta ainoastaan Noén elokuviin olin tutustunut syvemmin ennen Anatomy of Helliä. Anatomy of Hell avasi tieni Breillatin maailmaan, eikä missään tapauksessa kevyesti aukaissutkaan.

Another sex-driven story by controversial French filmmaker Catherine Breillat, starring porn actor Rocco Siffredi and Welsh model turned actress Amira Casar who was replaced by body-double Pauline Hunt for the most explicit close-up genitalia shots featuring insertion of objects. However, other explicit scenes were performed by Amira herself."
