Robert De Niro had the role right, typical mobster, but its to bad he had Billy Crystal and his phony comedy weighing him down. Honestly, a sequel? The first was funny, bbut hardly worth a follow up.

I remember it very well, when ‘Analyze This’ was released, everyone praised Robert De Niro for trying something so drastically different than his usual work. Indeed, it was basically a commercial comedy but it was pretty neat that De Niro would choose to make fun of his legacy and, above all, the damned thing was actually genuinely entertaining. However, what we didn’t know at the time is th... read more

Description: Mob boss Paul Vitti is nearing the end of his term in Sing Sing, and the FBI agents monitoring him are baffled. Day after day they watch as New York's most notorious gangland figure walks around his cell in a semi–catatonic stupor, occasionally breaking into songs from West Side Story. Is Vitti having a nervous breakdown because of recent threats on his life by a rival family, or is his odd behavior merely a foxy ploy to get him sprung from jail early? The FBI isn't sure, and neither is his former psychotherapist Ben Sobel, who gets called in to consult on the case. The last time Sobel treated Vitti, he tried to get to the ... (more)

Movie Reviews (601-650) (50 movies items)

" A completely unnecessary sequel that ruin the impact of the original. It was only fun for the actors so they could have a couple of extra weeks together hanging out and having a ball trying to make some extra quids out of it. Mostly embarassing for everyone else and the jokes fall flat on it's face."

Moviewatcher122's 2017 Film Diary: July (12 movies items)

"July 9 "I thought you might appreciate a nice home-cooked meal after being in prison for so long." "Yeah, that's what I've been jerking off to for the last 850 nights in a row, a fuckin' home-cooked meal. "Oh, tuna casserole!"" Have you ever seen a movie called Analyze This? If so, then you've seen Analyze That without even knowing it. OK, maybe it's not that similar, but a sequel like this is bound to repeat what made the first one work. With that said though, I didn't hate it like I though"

Indeed, it was basically a commercial comedy but it was pretty neat that De Niro would choose to make fun of his legacy and, above all, the damned thing was actually genuinely entertaining. However, what we didn’t know at the time is that De Niro wouldn’t stop after this 1st attempt and he would in fact eventually keep showing up in such commercial comedies but these movies would be more and more underwhelming to watch and, as a result, the once greatest actor ever has by now pretty much ruined his amazing legacy. This movie was a perfect example. I mean, sure, ‘Analyze This’ was a decent comedy but not much more that and” read more
