From Michael Haneke, the director of critically acclaimed European hit The White Ribbon in 2009, comes a heart-breaking drama that teaches the audience about the power of love and gives them an in-sight to life when reaching the period of old age. The French title 'Amour' simply translates 'love' into English, which immediately indicates to the viewers what the central theme is as well as what typ... read more

Good movie, nicely done, story of an articulated couple, who had a very fulfilling life, both music teachers, spend their life. In the old age the couple gone through tested time with wife getting from bad to worse with paralysis inflicted by stroke. The husband taking every possible care for her till he could not bear more the suffering of her slipping wife.

Since I have always been a fan of Michael Haneke’s work, of course, I was really eager to check this flick. Man, even though the guy is already around 70 years old, he is definitely on fire right now and won with this movie his 2nd Golden Palm in a row at the Cannes Film Festival and it won many other awards as well. And, indeed, it definitely deserved all the praises it has received and, person... read more

" Amour could have been a tremendous masterpiece if Michael Haneke's style had been more varied during the film. It does get slightly monotonous and a bit too sterile eventually for me to like this film more than I already did. For me, this is a film that wins me over by its screenplay and acting, more than Haneke's directing. It's a beautiful film. A courageous, powerful piece of cinema. A real, emotional and devastating portrayal of love and responsibility. I think this is a film many peopl"

And, indeed, it definitely deserved all the praises it has received and, personally, I enjoyed it more than ‘The White Ribbon’ which was pretty good but didn’t really blow me away. Anyway, it is pretty amazing to see the evolution of Haneke through his movies. I mean, he has always been fascinated by death and how mankind deals with it (‘Der siebente Kontinent’, ‘Benny's Video’, ‘71 Fragmente einer Chronologie des Zufalls’, ‘Funny Games’) but his visio” read more

The French title 'Amour' simply translates 'love' into English, which immediately indicates to the viewers what the central theme is as well as what type of story and characters we will be seeing. In that sense, the romance and love within the film is told in a deep, profound form of both beauty and tragedy. Therefore, Amour is a beautifully heart-breaking drama that explores love more than most romantic films and is undoubtedly the most thought-provoking flick of 2012.

To give the film a modern and perhaps more realistic tone, Amour is” read more

2012 Academy Awards Predictions (20 movies items)

"**Amour (Austria) *The Intouchables (France) *Lore (Australia) *No (Chile) *A Royal Affair (Denmark) I really know nothing about this category, so I had to look to other sites to see whats big, though none of it will really matter. The critical outpouring for Amour should lock up the category. The only challenge could be The Intouchables, based solely on it's massive box office worldwide. Even with that, it would still shock me if Amour doesn't win."

"17.8 Espoo Ciné Haneken uutukaisessa vanha pariskunta elää eläkepäiviään ja etenee vääjäämättä kohti alussa esitettyä tilannetta, jossa vaimo on kuollut ja mies kateissa. Heidän tätä edeltänyttä arkista elämäänsä seuratessa Haneke onnistuu luomaan kenties 2010-luvun tähänastisista elokuvahahmoista realistisimmat ja sympaattisimmat Mike Leigh'n Another Yearin pariskunnan rinnalle. Georges ja Anne tuntuvat todella rakastavan toisiaan, ja ensimmäisen puolitoistatuntisen"
