On a dirty, lame-o disposition: I know, this movie is so last decade! This has been aired on HBO for innumerable times and since it is that popular, I never bothered watching it anymore. Maybe it is just another teen movie, I told myself. And now I'm gravely mistaken. Lester Burnham (Spacey) is the shit! His psychotic perverseness is absofuckinglutely way overboard. His horny thoughts are sick: he jerks off in the shower and on the bed and he fancies drools over a super aggressive cheerleader, Angela Hayes (Suvari). "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in." American Beauty was a movie that came to me highly recommended, and applauded by critics as a masterpiece. After watching it, it's obvious that nothing less can be said about this film. American Beauty is a masterpiece and a truly impressive film, one to be treasured for years to come, and unquestionably worthy of the numerous awards it has received. The story that is told in American Beauty is beautiful and pleasing to watch for the most part, but also intricate and with deep meaning. American Beauty is a virtuoso, provocative, multi-faceted, incisive and unconventional drama that takes a comprehensive glimpse at the American dream gone wrong. I had approached this movie with a great deal of hesitation. There were reviews aplenty from people who praised this film as a wonderful masterpiece of the highest order. Before watching this film I could never have believed that making a film of such stature and power would actually be possible. This film, is the definition, of film making. Kevin Spacey, does excellent. This is his best film. The story, is, I must say, touching, and yes, beautiful. I loved this film. The actors, and the events, which occured, in this film, were moving, and touching. Not to mention, "American Beauty", was extremely entertaining, and never boring. This is definitely, one of my favorite films.

I can't believe this film has so many tags but not one single review.

I went for a very long time having claimed to have seen this film, when in fact I had only sat and watched bits and pieces of it on seperate occasions. When I finally sat and watched it from start to finish, I was just amazed. I'm a big Kevin Spacey fan anyway, but this film doesn't just rely on the big man. He is, by far, the funniest cast member, but the whole film is funny and every cast-member plays a solid role.

It's just a classic black comedy about a severely dysfunctional family. I have a real soft spot for these films about dead-end suburbian life. They're just awesome. I think I've run out of superlatives.
