One of best films of 2000.

"The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool." Directed by: Cameron Crowe Starring: Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Kate Hudson, Jason Lee, Patrick Fugit Genre: Drama Running time: 122 minutes My review: A high-school boy is given the chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about an up-and-coming rock band as he accompanies it on their concert tour. When I first heard about this film, I was unsure what I would make of this film because I had mixed opinions that this film is a real music film but I don't think it is at all really. It does feature about a music rock band but really I don't think there was much music involved. It was more drama which is what I really liked about this film. It ...Read more

''I'm telling secrets to the one guy you don't tell secrets to.'' A high-school boy is given the chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about an up-and-coming rock band as he accompanies it on their concert tour. Kate Hudson: Penny Lane ''The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool.'' In 2000, writer director Cameron Crowe unleashed to audiences, his Almost Famous film, worldwide with his semi-autobiographical depoction of a 15 year old commissioned and posing as a rock journalist for Rolling Stone magazine to profile one of the nation's hottest up and coming bands (fictional "Stillwater") while accompanying them on tour. While doing so, he discovers much more about the whole environment and world of mus...Read more

Famous Almost

This film made me happy more than I expected because surprisingly, two of my favorite ladies were in it, too: Zooey Deschanel and Fairuza Balk. :) Anyway, Almost Famous is hilariously fun to watch. This is definitely one of the rock and roll movies that shall never be surpassed by other future films of the same concept. Its script is absolutely far out! Kate Hudson was a major flirt but she's equally lovely as well. Jason Lee's better off in My Name Is Earl, by the way. My favorite scene? The almost-plane crash scene! Haha. :)

An amazing experience.

"The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool." Writer/director Cameron Crowe won an Oscar for his extraordinary script for this outstanding semi-autobiographical tale. Crowe accomplished an astronomical achievement with his previous film, Jerry Maguire, so people had set their expectations pretty high because of his potential and talent as a writer/director. The film is essentially the tale of what happened during Crowe's teenage years with altered character names. In Almost Famous, teenager William Miller (Fugit) becomes besotted with rock music despite the strong negative response from his overprotective mother (McDormand). When William is 15 years old, he becomes a journalist for a magazine. Then when William's talents a...Read more

Amazing Movie

Everything about this movie is absolutely superb, from the writing, directing, acting, etc. This is one of the few movies that I've ever seen that have made me really escape reality for a while, in complete enjoyment. I stayed away from this movie for so long just because of the hype, but once I finally watched it I was so in love. If you haven't seen this one yet, please do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP. I can't tell exactly the type of movies you would enjoy, but even if this isn't that type of movie you usually see, there's a really good chance that you won't be disappointed that you picked this film up & watched it.
