The cult classic starring Robocop himself, Peter Weller, as Buckaroo Banzai is a fun science fiction adventure worthy of a view. There are so many stars in this film I don't know where to begin, but I will say the character names are by far the best to come out of the 80s.

I tried real hard to like this movie, but nope. My feelings while watching this alternated between boredom and confusion, back and forth like ping pong balls cross a long and neverending table.
Actually, I like the idea of the film. Buckaroo Banzai is a modern-day (at least in the 80's when it was released) take on the iconic, literary character, Doc Savage and his band of stalwart compatriots - whether they intended it to be or not. Buckaroo, played by Peter Weller, is everything cool that everyone ever dreamed about growing up and being; he has accomplished himself as rock star, brain surgeon, hero, etc...

"This movie was just cool and became a cult phenomenon. A sci-fi parody that combined action, adventure, sci-fi, comedy, romance and satire. Peter Weller was a box office hit at the time and the end credits even "announced" a sequel: Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League."
"When it came time to film the end titles sequence, where Buckaroo and pals are walking around a dry L.A. aqueduct in step to the music, the music wasn't ready. Composer 'Michael Boddicker' told the film crew to use "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel as a placeholder because it was the exact same tempo. Those scenes were filmed with "Uptown Girl" blaring from a boom box tied to the back of the camera truck.
