This is a brilliant film from beginning to end. One of the best psychological thrillers to this day, you won't want to be missing out on this one.

Bill Paxton plays a hardware store manager, Hank, who seems from the outside like a mild-mannered guy who would never do anything wrong or against the law. That all changes from one trip to the cemetery with his brother, Jacob, (Billy Bob... read more

Effective and chilling.

"I wish somebody else had found that money."

Not only is A Simple Plan an absolutely brilliant, gripping psychological thriller but it is also an absorbing examination of human actions during times of desperation. The film is a thought-provoking and meaningful character study based on the popular novel by author Scott B. Smith (who also wrote the adapted screenplay).

Even though this movie seems to be rather forgotten nowadays, in my opinion, from all the movies directed by Sam Raimi, it is actually probably the best one he has delivered if you put aside the Evil Dead trilogy. As a matter of fact, it was hardly a personal project as Raimi was not even the first director involved (in fact, Ben Stiller, John Dhal and finally John Boorman all dropped out at some ... read more

Two brothers, one a mild-mannered hardware store manager (Paxton), the other an unemployed slob (Thornton) and a friend stumble onto $4.4 million cash in stolen money. The newfound booty leads Paxton's character, Hank, (with help from his cunning wife) to great lengths to keep the money a secret from local authorities. The three men begin to doubt each other's trust, which leads to shocking results of lies and deceit.

A good movie

“Even though this movie seems to be rather forgotten nowadays, in my opinion, from all the movies directed by Sam Raimi, it is actually probably the best one he has delivered if you put aside the Evil Dead trilogy. As a matter of fact, it was hardly a personal project as Raimi was not even the first director involved (in fact, Ben Stiller, John Dhal and finally John Boorman all dropped out at some point before Sam Raimi finally took over) and, yet, the end-result turned out to be even more than satisfying. I mean, sure, it was a really straightforward story (which such a title, should you expect anything else?)  preventing the whole thing from becoming really amazing, but there was definitely something appealing about its simplicity and the whole thing was sure damned entertaining. 30 From 98: My Favorite Films From 1998 (30 movies items)

"While a solid performance is given by every major player in this film (Bill Paxton, Bridgette Fonda and Brent Brisco) my fave has to go with Billy Bob Thornton's. This movie is another example of one of the roles that BBT has done in which he tends to approach the role with such a distinct character that, no matter what the quality of the film is, it's just interesting to watch as a vehicle for an actor who utilizes the diversity of his acting abilities to it's farthest extent. Therefore, wit"

Pid"
