A Knight's Tale (2001)

I didn't catch this movie until recently when it was on TV and I have to say that it was pretty good. It was a fairly clever blend of anachronisms that suited the theme of the movie, some funny parts, and who doesn't like good ol' fashioned medieval dueling and jousting? I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this, even if it was predictable, that's alright though it's simple and fun.

One of the best films ever made, purely because it is one of the most enjoyable and entertaining films to watch. This was one of the first films, if not the first, of Heath Ledger's movies that I saw. After this movie I completely fell in love with him and his movies, If you ever want to find out what a great actor he is then this is the perfect example. This movie has it all - action, comedy, romance and an all-star cast. 5 stars, 10/10, 100% brilliant!

This is a slightly odd movie that just never comes together. I knew it had a Rock-n-Roll soundtrack, and went into it with an open mind. But there's too little of it, so when it does happen it seems strange. And the princesses costumes are so contemporary, but nothing else is. And the flash backs are also unsettling. The actors are all great, but the plot is so mundane and the writing so dull that I just can't recommend this movie.

This movie, while definitely entertaining, is pure fluff---not to mention, annoying with the current songs and suggestive dancing that would not have been seen during the time period portrayed in this movie. The character of Chaucer (played by Paul Bettany) is a much needed dose of comic entertainment, but really isn't needed for the story. I have seen this movie a couple of times, and even though I am definitely NOT a fan, it is watchable if you put your brain on pause and forget all you might know about the time period. I guess, while deciding the soundtrack for this film, someone thought it would be utterly brilliant to use songs from the recent past, but every time one of those songs starts up---and, for example, the dance scene gets completely ridiculous---, I just roll my ...Read more

Not sure exactly why, but I really like this movie. It's not amazing, the acting isn't going to win Oscars, but I like it. The characters are funny and pretty well filled out, and the overall plot line is enough to keep you into it. It's worth seeing the awkward moments too.
