Spike Lee is one of the greatest filmmakers of his generation. The 25th Hour is the best creations. With interest, the primary material Spike Lee is not content to tell tell a story. Shuffles the sequence of events, playing with flash back and other techniques. The result is attractive, looking like a puzzle that we need to fill in seeing the film. Interestingly, and "racial" finding of Lee, where ... read more

"No. No. Fuck you, Montgomery Brogan. You had it all, and you threw it away, you dumb fuck!"

Director Spike Lee is an interesting filmmaker. Throughout his lucrative career, Lee has created several films that deeply explore and comment not solely on the respective major characters but also the settings they inhabit. 25th Hour is a multi-layered, elegiac tale of regret, missed opport... read more

If you had 24hours left before you had to go to jail for a long time, what would you do? Which friends would stick by you? What about your girlfriend who you suspect had a hand in getting you arrested?

This movie explores all that, in a movie style that only Spike Lee can deliver. It had me riveted all the way to the ending, which I must say, is absolutely unexecpted but also p... read more

Description: Edward Norton plays Monty Brogan, a harmless drug dealer who has 24 hours of freedom before serving a seven-year jail sentence. Nervous, confused, and terrified, Monty turns to his closest friends for support: Frank Slattery (Barry Pepper), a cocky stock broker who resents Monty for throwing his life away; Jakob Elinsky (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a hapless high school teacher who is attracted to one of his students (Anna Paquin); and Monty's heartbroken father (Brian Cox), who blames himself for Monty's demise. And then there is Naturelle (Rosario Dawson), Monty's beautiful girlfriend, who may or may not be guilty of ratting Mont ... (more)

“25th Hour is a movie that I just came across one day and decided to rent it, I noticed that it had Edward Norton in it and figured that I would just give it a shot. I absolutely fell in love with Edward Norton when I saw American History X, he immediately became one of my favorite actors. I couldn't believe how much I fell in love with this movie, it's honestly one of my new favorite movies, it's intelligent, intense, and greatly written. Edward Norton pulls off an incredible performance and truth be told I couldn't believe he didn't get a nomination at least for this movie, I don't know 25th Hour just didn't get enough notice, but this is a great movie and a very moving story.

300 From The First Decade Of The New Millennium (300 movies items)

"After starting out strong in the 1980's with ground breaking films centered around racially themed social issues, Spike Lee is one of those director who's "fire" seems to have pretty much fizzled out. And although he continues to crank out work that doesn't get as much attention as the early stage of his career, he does pepper in every once in a while a piece of cinema that reminds us why Siskel and Ebert once regarded him as one of the most upcoming talents behind the camera. The 25th Hour i"

New York movies:The 100 best films set in New York (100 movies items)

"Bombastic, wrenching and heartsick, Spike Lee’s drama remains the great post-9/11 love letter to New York City—filled with American flags and displaced rage—as seen by a drug dealer (Edward Norton) about to head to jail for seven years. He bids goodbye to the messy, wounded, wonderful chaos of the city with one last night out, surrounded by everyone close to him.—Alison Willmore"

A very good movie

“Honestly, it has been a while since I have seen this flick but I will definitely re-watch it at some point when I have the opportunity. The sad thing with this flick is it was that the last real critical success for Spike Lee (you could also argue that ‘Inside Man’ was quite successful but it was a box-office success in my opinion) and, for the last 10 years, he has made some rather terrible bombs. Concerning Edward Norton, once hailed as the best actor of his generation, he has been making some rather disappointing movies the one after the other during the last decade and this movie was the last one he made which was really great (I don’t count ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ because they were ensemble pieces and Norton was definitely not the main actor). Dear Cinema Diary - Vol 3 E9a - etc 2012 (76 movies items)

" Review by PvtCaboose91 Film and poetry mix with a film of conflicting emotions. Each of the characters represent conflicting emotions and moral vagueness. The story works as a loose framework to bind the elements together into a cinematic ode to New York city. I was especially impressed by how Spike Lee used visual conflict (staging, the use of tracking shots and jump cuts) and audio conflicts (asynchronous sound, ie hearing the sounds of the park but seeing a dog barking and not hearing the "
