Having seen the original "Two Thousand Maniacs", I can say I much preferred it over this remake, despite the presence of Robert Englund. The original, which was just as cheesy and bad as the remake, at least is much more fun to watch. "2001 Maniacs" isn't scary, isn't well acted, and isn't well written, and is completely, ridiculously, terrible.

And yet, having watched it, I am no... read more

Description: On their way to Spring Break, college kids take a detour through an old Southern town. The people of Pleasant Valley insist the kids stay for their annual barbecue celebration... but instead of getting a taste of the old South, the old South gets a taste of them! Written by George W Buckman Three college slackers, Anderson Lee, Cory Jones, and Nelson Elliot plan a good time away from their college by heading out to Daytona Beach for Spring Break. But along they way, they get detoured into a small, off-the-map, town of Pleasant Valley, Georgia where they, along with three drifters, Joey, Kat and Ricky, and biker Malcolm and h ... (more)

Miika's Movie Diary - 2015 (436 movies items)

"19.12, Netflix Ei niin kivulias slasher kuin odotin, vaikka 2001 Maniacsin käsitys huumorista onkin typerä. Pientä itseironiaa genreä kohtaan on havaittavissa, muttei sellaista määrää ettei tämä väistämättä hukkuisi omiensa joukkoon."

Horror movies - 35 years of remakes - (52 movies items)

" Directed by: Tim Sullivan With: Robert Englund, Peter Stormare Was the original - Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964) - worth a look? I'm not so sure... Since it is 50 years old, it may have some historical value but a part from that, I don't know... Will I ever watch this remake? I have a lot of respect for Robert Englund but this doesn't look really good..."

"2001 Maniacs" isn't scary, isn't well acted, and isn't well written, and is completely, ridiculously, terrible.

And yet, having watched it, I am now moving on to the sequel, with some very low expectations, of course. But if you want to watch this movie, do yourself a favour and go with the original film over this one.” read more

"The south rose again! Not sure if this was intended as sequel or just a heavy influence, but this movie had me watching it quite a few times the first week I got it. I picked it up at best buy because Robert Englund has never failed me as an actor and I heard a lot of good things about it. One of the few that actually entertained me and made me laugh and cringe throughout."
