Big budget account of Christopher Columbus' discovery of the Americas. Released in 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the discovery. Shows the disastrous effects the Europeans had on the original inhabitants, and Columbus' struggle to civilize the New World.
"Still, this failure -- and his frustration over never actually reaching mainland America -- renders him a tragic figure. Though he was the dreamer and pioneer who first set foot in the New World and brought treasures and territory to Spain, he died all but forgotten. The movie, alas, for all its wondrous beauty, is destined to suffer a similar fate.

I remember seeing this movie in middle school and it was a borefest. This movie did not had an anything new to ofter that we have not seen any movie that was based off Christopher Columbus from what I've seen. I hear the other Christopher Columbus movie that came out that year was worst, but I have no plans to see it."
