In 2007, director Frank Darabont cast McBride as the "Woman With Kids at Home" in the ensemble cast science-fiction horror film The Mist based on the 1980 novella of the same name by Stephen King.
In 2010, McBride joined the cast of the AMC television drama series The Walking Dead based on the comic book series of the same name. She plays Carol Peletier, the middle aged widow and caring mother to her daughter Sophia.

 The Walking Dead's best characters*Updated S3E16* (30 person items)"Carol wasn't really much of an asset to the group during season one and two, although she makes her place earned by doing the cleaning and stuff, I think up until the jail scene she had only killed about one walker! It was harsh what happened to her daughter Sophia though.
Wasn't sure if I liked Carol or not, but Daryl seems to like her so I'll give her a chance.
