"If it looks like shit, and it sounds like shit, then it must be shit."

I loved this movie! The cast was amazing, and the story was first-rate. This movie is another reason why P.T. Anderson is one of the best directors working today and I don't think I could've ended the year with a movie better than this one.

This wasn't that good of a movie. The animation was very good, but the characters weren't too likable and the humor was mostly lacking. Kids will really enjoy this movie, but adults probably won't find too much to like about this movie.

This was a very underrated movie. It had a very good premise and great performances from Ben Kingsley and Aaron Eckhart. Although I liked this movie alot, I can't say I'm too surprised by the low ratings.

This is one of the worst comedies I've ever seen. Nothing about it was funny and most of the jokes seemed to rely on prison rape. TRANSFORMERS 2 IS A COMEDIC MASTERPIECE COMPARED TO THIS SHIT!!!!!!!!

"Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn."

I thought this movie was just OK. I thought this was mostly a generic murder mystery starring the characters from the board game. Tim Curry and Christopher Lloyd delivered very good performances, but the rest of the acting wasn't that impressive. As for the humor in this movie it's mildly funny but there aren't too many laugh-worthy jokes. This was just an OK murder mystery film that didn't have too much to offer.

While I'm not a fan of Paul Rudd in leading roles, this is one those rare movies where he actually pulls it off. The character he plays is much different from the same characters he usually plays. This movie made me laugh out loud a few times and it had some drama which also worked.

Fuck this movie! Everthing about this movie either pisses me off or bores me to tears. It's filled with poorly written dialogue and no characters to care for. What is also annoying about this "film" is that one minute it's a movie with subtitles and the next minute it's one without subtitles. 40 minutes into the movie I did not give any fucks on what happened next, so I just stopped watching it. I did have a bad cold when I watched it, so I did a test to see if that had anything to do with it, but nope! The movie just fucking sucks. My last complaint with this movie is that on Netflix, it showed Kevin Kline as the leading star, but from what I saw he wasn't in much of it and that's the reason it was in my queue in the first place.

This movie was even better than the first one. While I thought the first movie started off slow, this one had me sold right away. The characters have much better development and the movie is filled with great dialogue and amazing visuals. If you were one of those people that was disappointed with the first movie then you might be impressed with this sequel.

"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough."

From the opening scene to the end of this movie, I was truly amazed. I'm all for a good romance movie if they are done well and this is an amazing love story. While every scene in this movie is great, my favorite ones have to be the ones involving James Garner. After seeing this, I can definitely see why it's so highly rated.

"All that I ask is that you do each and every little thing that pops into my head, while I enjoy the enormous fortune your parents left behind."

I had not seen this movie since it came out on DVD, so I knew I would have to revisit it sometime. This was much better than I remembered it. I don't really like family movies because they don't take kids as a serious audience, but this one does the opposite, This movie was creative, had a pretty good cast and was pretty dark at times which is refreshing from all the sickly sweet kids films we get today. It's not without it's flaws, but this movie has great storytelling and had some good comic relief which is something this movie needs at times.

This was an amazing movie. Out of all the movies about slavery, this one tackled that subject matter the best. I'm usually strong when it comes to violence in movies, but some of the violence in this film made me cringe quite a bit. It also had some touching scenes and it also made me think about slavery and wondering why people did it. The way they ended this movie was beyond perfect. When the movie ended, people were silent until they left the theatre room which shows how powerful this movie is. This movie will stay in my mind for a very long time and I will have to check out Steve McQueen's other work.

"There are fierce powers at work in the world, boys. Good, evil, poor luck, best luck. As men, we've got to take advantage where we can."

This was unexpectedly a very good movie. It had well-written dialogue and very strong performances from the kids in this movie. As for Matthew McConaughey, his performance didn't leave much of an impression on me until the second half of the film. The dialogue he was given was good, but for the most part his performance didn't do much for me. It is still a very well-done movie with great storytelling.

This was just as hilarious as when I saw it in theatres. I still think the conflict in the middle was uninspired, but I didn't come into this movie for anything other than a good laugh. The only real problem I have with this movie is the Tom Skeritt joke. While it was mildly amusing, it mostly falls flat on it's face and I can't see most people finding it funny. If you're going to watch this movie, then you're probably better off watching the theatrical version, because the unrated version barely added anything to the movie. Just extended the scenes a little bit.

I was actually expecting it to be ruined because of 50 Cent, but guess what? His performance didn't suck!!! This movie doesn't have any action in the beginning, but the build-up to this movie is brilliant. It starts of as a well-done prison film, but near the end it's non-stop action that fans of 80's action fans will love. This was a very awesome movie. It had great special effects, and it was scary and entertaining at the same time. I'm probably in the minority of enjoying this more than Re-Animator.

"You're very handy, I can tell. I bet you like to read a lot, too."
"Print is dead."
"Oh, that's very fascinating to me. I read a lot myself. Some people think I'm too intellectual but I think it's a fabulous way to spend your spare time. I also play raquetball. Do you have any hobbies?"
"I collect spores, molds, and fungus."

I got chosen to bring a movie to school for movie day in drama and since Halloween is coming up, I chose to bring this. Despite the fact that my rating hasn't changed, I think this movie is much better the second time around. I didn't understand some of the humor when I saw it three years ago and it's one of the most entertaining movies ever made.

"You're freaks, all of you! All of you, freaks, mutations!"

I respect Vincent Price, but I just didn't care for this movie. I really wanted to like it, but I didn't like the dialogue and the score in this movie was just ineffective. Really the only thing that saved this movie that I can remember is Price's performance. I will see the remakes of this movie to see if they are any better.

"Here it is."
"What do you think?"
"We've never lived in a house before. Just apartments."
"Well, you know what they say, a house just isn't a home without children."

Well, this was surprisingly a good sequel. I thought the first one was stupid and took itself too seriously. This movie actually proved to me that a movie about a killer doll can actually be good. I also thought the kid from the first movie gave a better performance than he did in the first one. It still has some problems, but it was an entertaining slasher movie which is what the first one should've been.

Haha. Yep. That song was one of the few things that held me back from giving Sleepwalk With Me a higher rating, a choice that was Pure Evil.

Glad you enjoyed The Majestic!

As for the other two Star Wars prequels, you're really not missing much by not seeing them. None of the prequels come close to the excellence of the original trilogy. I was entertained by all 3 when I watched them but would never go out of my way to watch any of them a 2nd time.

Glad you enjoyed Tales of Terror so much! Corman's Poe adaptations are all worth watching & that's my favorite of them. (By the way, I went ahead & added your support for it to the project list.)

Audition was my first Miike film as well, though I can't recall for sure whether I'd seen Three... Extremes before or after that. He did one of the 3 stories in that, is why I mention it & all 3 of those tales are worth watching. But yeah, Audition is excellent & the other few films of his I've seen are worth checking out too (he's made tons & I doubt I'll ever get them all watched).

Also looks like we're agreed entirely on An Andalusian Dog. Pointless & nothing to get excited about now is almost exactly how I described it when I watched it last year.

And now that you've watched Raw I highly recommend you watch Murphy's Delirious, which was made around the same time.

Awesome to see you highly enjoyed Duck Soup! That reminds me I should make a best-to-worst for the Marx Bros. now that I've recently watched the majority of their films.

Yay for recommendations paying off! Nice to see you dug Bellflower too. Definitely an unusual film & I agree with you that there were times where I felt like hating it. Anxious to see what Evan Glodell comes up with next.

I will definitely be checking back in, not only because I've joined in the Netflix Instant Project. I love your commentary!

I really like your movie choices and I'll be following this list often. Nice work!

Glad you watched Dr. Strangelove. It's a film I appreciate more & more every time I revisit it. I like that you chose my favorite line for your entry.
Posted: 4 years, 8 months ago at Feb 24 1:51
Great to see you enjoyed Death of a Superhero. What really got me personally about that movie was the great soundtrack and the lead actor - Both utterly fantastic.
Posted: 4 years, 8 months ago at Feb 25 6:03
Glad you enjoyed Frenzy! Yep, definitely his darkest & most graphic which I wasn't expecting & wound up being impressed with.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 2 5:13
Glad you caught Videodrome & loved it. Also cool to see you liked Everything Must Go so well. I agree that Will needs to do more roles like that. He's definitely capable of dramatic roles.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 6 1:18
Agreed on Diary of the Dead. I probably enjoyed it a little more than most due to my watching it after watching the other 4 films in the series as a marathon before going to see it in the theatre. I'll be curious to see if we come down the same on Survival of the Dead if you check it out.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 15 6:10
Awesome that you tracked down & enjoyed I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. It gave me the itch to re-watch Don't Be a Menace... and Low Down Dirty Shame, but I don't feel like I have time to watch either one right now. Ah well.

Oh good, I was beginning to think I'm crazy for liking The Number 23. Maybe it was just disliked by the more casual and not-so-much fans of Jim's? I'm not sure, but we're agreed that it's unfairly hated on.

Nice to see you're interested in more of Mel Brooks' work. Most of his films are among my favorites, and I think at this point I've seen nearly all his directed films. If you haven't already seen it, I can't recommend Dracula, Dead & Loving It, but otherwise all his other films are worth watching.

And I'll continue ignoring Better Off Dead. Wasn't sure about that one, so thanks for the warning. ;)

Fresh is one of my favorite films, nice to see it get a positive rating on your list.

Yay for positive responses to Natural Born Killers, Silent Movie, and Demolition Man! If I can ever find & purchase a copy of Silent Movie I'll be able to say I'm the proud owner of all 3 of those films haha.
Posted: 4 years, 6 months ago at Apr 14 22:33
I'll continue ignoring Fast Times at Ridgemont High then. Thanks for the warning. :)
Posted: 4 years, 5 months ago at May 13 5:18
I think this should've been one movie instead of being split into two parts.

Agreed wholeheartedly & glad to see you give both halves full marks! Supposedly they're working on a BR/DVD release that will put both films together, though whether it'll be done to QT's original vision or just the two volumes as they are edited together is still unknown. It's been in the works for several years now, so I'm starting to lose faith that it'll ever surface. Until then I'll just keep watching my DVDs back-to-back. ;)

Oh good, someone else who isn't in love with The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly. I knew it was long before I started it, but it felt like it was WAY longer than it actually was. Its moments of Greatness are stuck between long periods of boredom, and I'm really surprised so many people think it's a perfect film. For a Few Dollars More is all around the best film in the trilogy in my book.
Posted: 4 years, 5 months ago at May 17 6:13
I don't get the hate for House of 1000 Corpses either. And cool that you enjoyed Heathers!
Posted: 4 years, 4 months ago at May 31 15:14
Nice to see you felt the same way I did on Taken. I was beginning to think I was alone on that one. And while the action scenes are mostly good, the way some of them are shot is really annoying to watch or at least I thought so. Definitely a film I find overrated.
Posted: 4 years, 4 months ago at Jun 1 6:20
I recommend you check out Unleashed, Hero, and Fearless for more good Jet Li movies.
Posted: 4 years, 4 months ago at Jun 11 4:18
Yay love for Lock, Stock.... It's a favorite of mine as well, as is Snatch. Can't comment on all of Guy Ritchie's films, but the others I've seen I sadly haven't enjoyed as much. Will look forward to your thoughts on them!
Posted: 4 years, 4 months ago at Jun 16 15:28
Agreed on Naked Lunch and Unbreakable. Unbreakable is easily my favorite of Shyamalan's films, one that I love more every time I re-watch it. And yeah, I love The Golden Child too...so funny & underrated. I miss that Eddie Murphy too.
Posted: 4 years, 3 months ago at Jul 16 3:49
Nice to see you working your way through Linklater's films. If you can catch Before Midnight in the theatre I recommend you do so. The locations make it well worth seeing on the big screen.

And yep, I enjoyed Walk Hard too. Very funny & underrated.

Glad to see you loved The Crow, which has long been a favorite of mine. Will have to check back soon to see what you have to say about it...
Posted: 4 years, 3 months ago at Jul 19 4:37
Yep, Observe & Report was Awful. I couldn't even finish it, and from your comments (and those from others) I didn't miss anything by abandoning it early.

Love the quote you used for Despicable Me 2, that was one of my favorites.
Posted: 4 years, 2 months ago at Aug 13 3:53
Glad you finally watched & loved Perks. I need to re-read the book soon but remember loving it too.

And perhaps I'll check out the "Bottle Rocket" short. I definitely thought the film was good but nothing great.

And yeah, Zodiac is good too. Doesn't quite rate for me as Fincher's best either but I really dug it.

Would say that The ABCs of Death is not even worth a watch, despite some few good segments. There's some real shit in that film. :P
Posted: 3 years, 11 months ago at Nov 12 6:46
Glad to see you enjoyed Fuck; I found it very entertaining too. And I love SLC Punk! as well.

Sorry though to see your month of horror encountered a bum note that pushed you away from horror just to end it on a better one. It happens sometimes though, hence why I ended last month with an old favorite rather than risking ending on something that sucked.

Smokin' Aces, Young Adult, Face/Off...yep, agreed. And it's awesome you watched & loved Punch-Drunk Love. Totally agree that it's sad Sandler's serious roles never did well at the box office. Dude has talent when he's forced away from comedy, yet he refuses to give up on his dumb comedies. So frustrating. I'll look forward to your thoughts on PT Anderson's other films as you get to them. :)

Great that you ended the year with Boogie Nights & loved it. :)
