Vampyre Literature
The Vampyre is a short story first published in 1819, predating Bram Stoker's by 80 years.
Published in 1872, before Bram Stoker's, Carmilla is a tale about a lesbian vampire.
The classic novel that has brought much inspiration to literature and film alike ever since it's creation.
If you're into Vampire lit and haven't read this or don't intend on reading it you're nuts basically, and you're missing out. Raven's rating:
Not your typical vampire literature, what I more or less like to call Vampire Literature by Association. The reason being, although they have a vampire nature they aren't made in the typical vampire fashion. There isn't any blood drinking ritual and the main character isn't a vampire.

Book 11, Dark Descent, was published as part of an anthology The Only One Book 14, Dark Hunger, was originally published in an anthology, Hot Blooded then adapted to a graphic novel. Typical Dracula inspired novel told from the perspective of Dracula's servent giving it an interesting take on the tale.
Raven's rating:
Young adult vampire lit.
Book one in Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series. book 2 and book 3, Shadow Kiss, is yet to be released. Raven's rating:
A Vampire/fantasy novel set in a modern but an alternate time.
Although there are such creatures as magic handlers, demons, werewolves and pixies the story centres around the main character, Sunshine, and vampires. *Not a paranormal romance although it does have some sexual tension but luckily the vampire is, well, vampiric. Raven's rating:
