On some message board, I once stated that I had no idea Stacey was black (I seriousl thought she was a tanned white woman) and boy, did I get punished for THAT. A few black posters got very offended with me for that. Despite the fact that she has soft straight hair, green eyes, light smooth skin and general all-American looks that are unusual for a woman of color. -_-

Which begs the question: Why is it considered such a huge compliment to say white women look ethnic (Angelina and her "black" lips; Megan Fox and her "Cherokee" hair and cheekbones; Taylor Swift and her unusual "Asian" eyes, etc.) yet when you dare to say an ethnic woman looks white (and let us be honest: almost all the ones Hollywood adores look 100% white or at least mixed), people cry "IGNORANT RACIST IDIOT!"?!?

Thankfully she is usually not regarded as exotic. I know a half Puerto Rican girl (who actually considers herself and her heritage to be mighty sexy and exotic *gag*) who looks like her. Sorry, not exotic. Very Caucasian-looking for someone who's Latina, although honestly, I find that the only Latinas considered hot typically do look generic and often white.
Kawaii's rating:

Her features are just too "perfect looking" to be very exotic, you know? Exotic is all about different and flawed, like Audrey Hepburn's "thick" eyebrows, Gisele Bundchen's "big nose", etc.

I just noticed out of the blue a few weeks ago that Jen an dKate Hudson look JUST alike: exact same heart-shaped face, thin eyebrows, thin nose connecting to their small eyes that also have the same shape, same smiles... So why is Kate considered a 'classic' beauty but Jennifer isn't despite how similar they look? Oh, because Kate is a blonde white woman, and Jennifer is "ethnic". I forgot... XD

Half-white and it shows. Obviously a cute girl but I was surprised to see that she too is considered exotic. Lucy Liu is exotic because Asians so rarely have freckles or delicate square jaws like that, but Brenda looks quite classic.

I once heard this girl (she was black, in case you wondered) say Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Liz Taylor, and Halle were exotic. I was very surprised, but I blew it off because the girl herself is well-known around here for being extremely ditzy. However, I did some research on people's opinions of their looks and some actually DO consider them all exotic! What?! I went so long not having a clue they were considered that because their classic/generic looks were so blatantly obvious it just went without saying, like breathing, so I never would have thought anyone could say otherwise.

Like with many of these ladies, it seems to be only her coloring that people find exotic, and so they call her exotic even though her attractive features are clearly classic, even Caucasian-looking (which is another reason why she is considered so beautiful, just like Jessica Alba, Vanessa, Adriana, Kim, etc. Women who are faull ethnic or of ethnic descent like Whoopi Goldberg or the Jewish Sarah Jessica Parker with strong ethnic features that make them exotic are simply considered ugly, not rightfully exotic).

I do think her beautiful face shape is exotic, though.
Kawaii's rating:

The ladies on this list are, contrary to popular opinion, NOT exotic (which means untraditional looking, unconventional looking, unique looking, etc. by cultures' beauty standards). They are either classic (which is the exact opposite of exotic) or generic, which also means classic but more bland, average-looking often, etc. You can find them attractive or not, but just realize they ain't exotic. =]

1 being least exotic; higher meaner less not-exotic.

My God, stunning picture of Elizabeth Taylor you got there. One look at her face and it's enough for me to cast my vote. =)

Btw regarding exotic vs. classic looks, it's all in the eye of the beholder. The definition of "exotic" is different or foreign. What some people see as different/foreign may not be the same with other people.

Alek Wek is a beautiful exotic woman to most people in US and Europe, but probably not so much to the people in her native country, Sudan, since MANY Sudanese women look like her.

To most (white) people, celebrities such as Aishwarya Rai may be considered exotic because they find her striking features so rare among typical Indian people (not to mention she's one heck of a beauty). I agree that her features are quite Caucasian, with her light skin and light eyes, but that's the point. Her features are what make her stand out. Not that I think darker features are less attractive or don't make you stand out, but to most people in the western world, Aishwarya looks DIFFERENT than most Indian people they commonly see thus many consider her exotic. Besides, it's not like you get to see beautiful women like that everyday. So to many, Aishwarya is DIFFERENT and RARE. But maybe to many others (such as yourself), not so much.

Now I'm NOT an Aishwarya fan, but I myself happen to think that she IS very exotic-looking, just like I think Alek Wek is also very exotic. It doesn't matter (to me) if you look Caucasian or not, whether you have dark or light features, if I find your beauty rare and unique, then I will consider you exotic.

I never consider Liz Taylor exotic. I love her and I thought she was an "interesting" and "unique" beauty, but not so much rare/exotic in my book. I mean, her features are not considered "rare" among white people - dark hair, clear eyes, and fair skin - so I don't think of her as exotic.

Don't get me wrong here. I'm not trying to tell you that your concept of exoticism is wrong nor am I trying to lecture you on it. I'm just simply stating my opinion. Like I said, it's all in the eye of the beholder. So you have your own definition of what is exotic and what is not. Okay cool, good for you. So do I and a lot of other people out there. Is it so wrong if certain people find something so unique and appealing to them when you don't? So if people see Aishwarya as exotic while you don't, does it bother you so much? I sure hope not.
Posted: 4 years, 2 months ago at Aug 6 16:38
really? I picked that one because I really dislike it. with her hair pulled back her face looks extra plain IMO.

and do I REALLY have to read all that? =S I'm not even fully awakened yet or had my coffee. but JSYK this is just MY opinion 9and apparently Laylinka's) .... but it seems to bother YOU, even though you're saying the opposite is true or something. JS.
Posted: 4 years, 2 months ago at Aug 7 17:11
Like I said, it's all in the eye of the beholder. I'm aware that it is YOUR opinion and I appreciate and respect that. I am not the least bothered by your opinion. I'm still voting for your list not necessarily because I agree with you, but mainly because I love that Liz Taylor picture you put up there (and ironically, I actually find that the majority of women you put up there in your list are exotic, so for me, your list may be as well titled the other way around, "exotic, NOT classic" LOL).

And you don't have to read all my writings nor do you have to like/agree with it. Just like you have your own opinion, I also have MY opinion and I think I'm entitled to it as well. Whether you want to take my words or not, that's up to you and I honestly don't care. I'm just giving you a piece of my 2 cents. Cheers! =)

I have to say while i understand completely where you're coming from, I agree with what rocket scientist said. And if we are going by your definition of exotic "exotic (which means untraditional looking, unconventional looking, unique looking, etc. by cultures' beauty standards" The cultures' beauty standard in the US (wrongly,i believe but true nonetheless) is the blonde hair, blue eyed, and fair skinned girl. So in the US, any other cultural group (latina, asian, middle eastern etc)would be considered exotic. Just saying...
Posted: 4 years, 1 month ago at Aug 18 20:07
but your coloring doesnt make you exotic, and almost no one likes blondes anyway. and paleness is only cool with dark hair, especially with blue eyes (you must've noticed how wildly popular people like Katy Perry, Zooey Deschanel and Megan Fox are now right?). Latin people especially often have classical features, like Adriana Lima, Monica B., Vanessa Hudgens, Vicky Justice, etc. Caucasians have the most wide diversity of features on top of coloring so they are simply just more likely to have unusual features, especially in a melting pot like America where almost everyone has a diverse heritage contributing to their features.

the US beauty standard is now and always has been classical features, especially on light-skinned, "good" haired, and best of all light eyed ethnic women. Jennifer Lopez looks exactly like a tanned Kate Hudson, as conventional as conventional gets, but she is called "exotic" anyway just because she's born of Latina descent, and was also named the world's most beautiful woman (which she is far from but that's just my thought). Vanessa Ferlito, of Italian descent, is totally exotic but she's considered extremely ugly by out culture's beauty standards. In fact so is Renee Zellweger, despite the fact that she totally fits what you say is our culture's standard of beauty.
Posted: 4 years, 1 month ago at Aug 21 11:26
Vanessa Ferlito is considered ugly? Wow I never heard that. So she may not have as many male (or female) fans as the likes of Adriana Lima or Megan Fox, but I don't think I've ever met anyone who would downright say that she's ugly or unattractive. Not that it's wrong if some people feel that way. It's their preference and they're entitled to it.

And Renee Zellweger considered ugly? Well yeah okay I myself don't think of her as a drop dead gorgeous beauty but to me she has some sort of cuteness quality. Besides, different stroke for different person. What one sees as ugly or beautiful may not be the same for other people. I'm sure somewhere in this world Zellweger has her own admirers who secretly kiss her pics before they go to bed every night LOL.

Anyway, I think what "anyways" and I were trying to say is that just like the concept of beauty differs from one person to another, so does the concept of exotic. I think we all tend to agree that we define exotic as "unique", "different", "untraditional", "unconventional", or "foreign". And it's all a VERY subjective matter so it will eventually come back to the person's preference or personal taste. So you have this list to tell us who are and who aren't exotic according to YOU. And nothing is wrong with that. Just like me, "anyways", and many other people out there have our own picks on who's exotic and who's not. You can't tell people if what they think as exotic or beautiful is wrong or not. I'm sure you yourself don't like to be told by some strangers that this list is wrong or absurd.
Posted: 4 years, 1 month ago at Aug 31 22:02
yeah, sadly. someone told me she's ugly and looks like a meth addict. her board on IMDB is full of mean people, but I like how different she looks. I tend to prefer people who are "interesting" to look at than "safe", ya know? Like for ex., if you lined up Katharine Hepburn next to Liz Taylor, I would say Kate is more attractive, cuz she looks so unique, but Liz is pretty bland-looking to me. I know everyone loves her eye color but that isn't enough for me to find her pretty.

And I feel sorry for Renee... on "Most Ugliest" lists bloggers and posters make, she's usually on the top 5. as if she can help how small her eyes are. I think not only her "puckered" expression is what they hate; she also has this strange chubby face on a skinny body thing going on, like Taylor Swift does. but why do they HATE her so much for it? Jennifer Tilly looks a lot like her but she's loved by many a man. I actually kinda like Renee a bit, depending on the hair/makeup.

And I wasnt trying to "tell" anyone anything; I'm just saying a bunch of actors are only called exotic for their coloring or heritages, which is NOT what makes one exotic OR classic. Like why are blondes, especially blue eyed ones, always called "classic" beauties or even generic, when many like Taylor Swift or Lauren Bacall aren't? A lot of people are under the mistaken impression that blue eyes/dark hair combo or being Latina or black or whatever makes you automatically "exotic" when it doesn't; your FEATURES do.

@Kawaii : yes but again, what considered exotic/beautiful/ugly is a very SUBJECTIVE issue. I mean, there is no strict definition or guidelines that make one exotic or classic, ugly or beautiful etc because it's all in the eye of the beholder.

So some people may find someone exotic solely based on the coloring alone. Is that so wrong if they think that way? Perhaps the coloring is RARE or UNUSUAL where they live thus why they are considered exotic? I mean, a Caucasian with ethnic features look exotic to YOU just like an etnic person with European/Caucasian features to other people. And who is right??? Who is wrong??? Everyone is right because everyone is entitled to view anyone from their perspective.

Some people may consider Aishwarya Rai exotic because her coloring is different than most Indian people. You, being from America, so you base your judgment on the European/American standard. That's why you consider her more of a classic beauty because to you she has more European features than ethnic (which is probably common among people where you live). But in other parts of the world where such features/coloring is rare, some may find her exotic/different. Well I personally see nothing wrong with either perspective. Let it be classic/exotic, ugly/beautiful, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

You have your own opinions and definition about classic vs. exotic and you're entitled to it. But I think regarding HOW someone judge a person as exotic or not is an open field that should be determined by each person themselves. If you think coloring is NOT the indicator of exoticism, okay fine, nothing is wrong with that. But if others want to use coloring as an indicator, it's their business AND prerogative because by the end of the day, like I said, it's a very SUBJECTIVE issue so eventually each person will have different opinion.
Posted: 4 years, 1 month ago at Sep 2 9:00
@Kawaii : Anyway please don't take this as an insult or anything. I'm not trying to bash or lecture you myself. I feel like I just want to share MY opinion. If you see your other lists, I've put some of my comments there as well. It's all not intended as a personal attack, but rather me sharing my insight. Whether you want to take it or not, that's your business. But I do hope that you can take something valuable out of this conversation. Cheers and have a good day!

I finally found this again, lol. Somehow I lost it! I just wanted to clarify, i wasn't talking just about coloring. I am half korean/black but usually got mistaken for some type of pacific islander. I don't consider myself exotic looking but I grew up in a small town that was 85% caucasian and was considered "exotic" bc of it. Then went off to college and obviously was exposed to a whole range of nationalies and my look was probably thought of as "regular". But while in school i did a student exchange program and went back to Korea. The people (surprisingly to me at least) were pretty homogeneous looking. Meaning when I looked out across the market most everyone had the dark, straight hair, pale complexion and "asian" eyes etc. I am trying not to stereotype but it was surprising to me.
Also in Korea, I was apparently exotic looking too! . LOL but apparently my asian eyes weren't quite right, and certain other features weren't quite as true to the "straight up" asian. I think that any nationality other than Asian would've been considered exotic there including caucasians.
Posted: 3 years, 9 months ago at Dec 28 6:00
Wow. Your post actually offends me. Who are you to judge who looks exotic or not? I myself come from different ethnic backgrounds, and just because I have lighter skin than others of my ethnicity or "whiter" features, does not mean I am not exotic. You're probably an envious caucasian because you don't have anything exotic to offer. Everyone exotic person by blood is beautiful, exotic "looking" or not according to you. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so F off.
Posted: 3 years, 9 months ago at Dec 28 21:54
Although you will probably also cry racist for this too: Pot, meet kettle. =) You are judging me. Dont be a hypocrite. Also... Exotic = unusual looking. Classic = no exotic features, has tradition ones. Sweet fooking Valley High, do you people NEVER read the past comments or the description? Or have ANY common sense ot speak of? "OMG THE CREATOR CALLED ALL THOSE STARS WHO LOOK LIKE ME NOT EXOTIC, THIS OFFENDS ME, HOW DARE YOU HAVE AN OPINION DIFFERENT THEN MINE OMG RANDOM JUDGMENTS EVERYWHERE CRY!!1!1Q!" I'm not the idiot saying skin tone makes you exotic or not... you (like hollywood and people in general) said it, not me.

You're "probably" a jealous mixed girl who likes using the "white" in her when it's conveniant but only claims to be the ethnic part of her. See? I, too, can make ignorant, hateful judgments I have no idea are true are not, just based on something I see you said that I dont agree with. Dont like my opinions? Move on.

I'm so tired of people coming here to attack me for not saying what they like to hear, and not even TRYING to get what I'm saying. It's people like you guys (not the few here actually being respectful and thoughtful obviously) who drove me to make this list. Y'all are crying like I said these women are ugly or something. and how come you guys never said anything on my "exotic not classic" list?

Oh, and since you seemed to have been blinded by rage, at least 8 of these women are WHITE. And I'd be glad to add more white women but in our highly racist society, white women are generally not allowed to be called exotic unless they have "ethnic features" like Megan's "Indian" cheekbones or Angelina's "black" lips.
Posted: 3 years, 9 months ago at Dec 28 22:01
rocket- but that is my point, your coloring DOESN'T make YOU exotic, it makes your COLORING exotic. If that was true, then girls like Dianna Argon, Amber Heard, Julianne Moore, and many other blondes and redheads with blue/green/hazel eyes would be called exotic yet they arent. And I know you arent trying to be insulting, to which I thank you for being cordial and respectful, unlike some people =)
Posted: 3 years, 1 month ago at Aug 17 20:05
...I think you totally misunderstood everything I just said.

classic means you don't have real flaws. hence why it is the CLASSIC standard of beauty. exotic is foreign, unusual. flaws make you unsual. get it?

This editorial is loaded with Anti-White animosity. I've studies this phenomenom and it's growing in American culture. Someone of Asian, Latino or even African descent will provide a list and they always have a bone to pick with beautiful white women. They have this grudge that they are never bashful hiding. Did this 'victimized' soul understand that ethnics and non-Whites have been progressively gaining exposure in American advertiing in the past 20 years, yet they become increasingly hostile and brazen.
Posted: 2 years ago at Sep 28 19:09
What about Amy Lee from Evanescence or Simone Simons from Epica? Both of these women have been considered "exotic" by some people in the hard rock and metal music communities. But studying your lists I would guess they are more "classic" looking beauties.

Amy Lee

Simone Simons

EDIT: As for what you said about latinas under the Demi Lovato section... well latinos are originally white and of southern euro descent so of course they're Caucasian and mestizos will be caucasian looking in some way.
Brenda Song is said to be Hmong and Thai. Didn't say she was any bit white anywhere, but a lot of people are mixed even with a tiny something else that you can never know.
