Genre: Action, Rated M (April 2008)
Developed by Rockstar North; Published by Rockstar
Part of Grand Theft Auto series.

Gamespot 10.0 | Critics Avg 9.8 | Players Avg 9.3

"GTAIV is a game with a compelling and nonlinear storyline, a game with a great protagonist who you can't help but like, and a game that boasts a plethora of online multiplayer features in addition to its lengthy story mode. It's not without some flaws, but GTAIV is undoubtedly the best Grand Theft Auto yet." - Gamespot Review

2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Xbox 360
Genre: Role-Playing Game, Rated T (March 2006)

Gamespot 9.6 | Critics Avg 9.4 | Players Avg 9.5

"Even those who'd normally have no interest in a role-playing game should find it hard to resist getting swept up in this big, beautiful, meticulously crafted world. What's overwhelming about Oblivion is how good it is and how much there is to it. Literally almost everything that's ever been done well before in past role-playing games is in here--done at least as well, if not better." - Gamespot Review

"Gears of War is a game that capitalizes on all of the promises made by the next generation of gaming. It looks more than a few steps beyond what consoles have been doing to this point, and the gameplay is supremely fulfilling from start to finish in all of its various modes. "It's a shame that the single-player is so brief, but you should only skip out on Call of Duty 4 if you're the sort of person who doesn't appreciate great first-person shooter multiplayer. The quality of the content in the campaign is totally top-shelf, and the multiplayer is some of the best around, making this a truly superb package." - Gamespot Review

Gamespot 9.0 | Critics 8.9 | Players 8.7

"The open-world design isn't just a lazy gimmick--it's a wonderfully executed concept that doesn't rob the game of the series' most beloved tenet: the act of driving fast and wrecking hard. ... if you have any affection for the series, you really owe it to yourself to give the full game a look." - Gamespot Review

Gamespot 8.7 | Critics Avg 8.6 | Players Avg 8.9

"The single-player game is fun, but its brevity is certainly an issue. Still, if you're a fan of modern combat, (or if you have Xbox Live for its multi-player component) GRAW 2 makes a compelling case for a game that you have to play." - Gamespot Review

Gamespot 8.8 | Critics 8.8 | Players 8.8

"While Burnout Revenge might not have enough new stuff in it to drag you back in if you've been playing it on other platforms, this is definitely the version to get if you're shopping around. Developed by Electronic Arts; Published by Electronic Arts

Gamespot 8.5 | Critics Avg 8.5 | Players Avg 8.6

"The AI has been thoroughly reworked, so it now looks and feels much, much more like the real-life sport. Throw in some balance improvements to the skill stick, a gaggle of new online modes, and an improved dynasty mode, and you've got an all-around great hockey game." - Gamespot Review

People who added this item 12  Average listal rating (10 ratings) 8.7
25. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - Xbox 360

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal; Published by Ubisoft
Part of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series.

Gamespot 8.5 | Critics Avg 8.2 | Players Avg 8.6

"If the original Rainbow Six Vegas felt like the first night of a trip to Sin City, its recently released sequel feels like the second; a little worn, but still a lot of fun. A third night of this might be too much to handle, but if you like to place bets with bullets at all, you'll definitely want to put some money down on Rainbow Six Vegas 2." - Gamespot Review

Description

This list shows off all the biggest and best titles released so far, for the Xbox 360 console. It is based primarily on Gamespot reviews and scoring, 8.0 or higher rated games, but I've made exceptions for games that Gamespot may have rated poorly but Critics Score (average scores across dozens of game review sites) and/or Players Score (rating average of thousands of Gamespot users) is above 8.0. This should give a good overview of what the best Xbox 360 games are out at the moment.

This list is sorted by highest-rated game criteria. I do however take Critics Average, Players Average, as well as Listal's Average to have the sorting truly reflect Top Rated games.

For upcoming 2008/2009 releases, go to the New XBOX 360 Releases list.
