I can agree with most of these but AVP and Twister were good movies.

For me, AVP was atrocious and insulting given the quality of some of the previous entries in the other franchises (Alien 3/Resurrection excluded), and the potential it had to be awesome. Paul W.S. (Worthless Shit) Anderson took a big steeming shit on the franchise by A.) MAking is PG-13, B.) Terrible writing, C.) Awful CGI, D.) Boring characters, E.) Too close of fight scenes at times, in fact just bad fight scenes. F.) Ignoring significant rules laid out in the previous movies such as the face hugger breeding time or the predator teaming up with the human at the end. All done for simply just plot convenience. Also that scene where the main girl character is given weapons at the end made of acid-bleeding Alien body parts is the dumbest thing in any movie. It was just the most disappointing movie I've ever seen and I thought it had so much potential to be awesome. Those and more reasons are why I hate that movie. But to each their own, no judgment. I'm glad you like my list apart from that.

Perhaps if AVP had come on the heels of Aliens I would have liked it less but after Alien 3 (which was bloody awful) and Resurrection (better than 3 but a completely rushed and half-assed script) I found it appealing. I liked how they offered up something of a backstory to the android line and showed both Aliens and Predators in the same movie.

I'll agree it had drawbacks. For me, the fight scenes were too quick and in your face, the lighting was far too dark and the story felt rushed. A bit more effort on the script (and possibly someone actually caring about it, as opposed to caring about cashing in) and it could have been fantastic. The rating of PG13 was a definite cockup! Character development, a slower build and better camera work would have improved it greatly.

Still, I enjoyed it; but, like you said, 'to each their own'.

I found myself appreciating the team-up between Predator and human near the end as it was a nod to Predator 2, where Danny Glover's character was shown respect by the hunters for surviving a hunt and actually taking down one of their own.

The Alien franchise could have had the finest trilogy since Star Wars, if it hadn't been for Alien 3; and the first two are among my all-time favorites (as are all three of the Predator movies).

I do get your disappointment. I thought AVP could have been much better, too. Still, for me, it was a huge step up from the previous two.

I didn't like 3/4 either for the same reasons you listed. Predator 2 I enjoy as a guilty pleasure.
