He only has one mission: to kill John Connor. He is composed of liquid metal and can make himself look like anyone he wants. This makes him relentless and an almost unstoppable force. Anyone that can take on Arnold is someone not to be messed with. I think though what really works is the fact that he looks like a cop. It's a symbol of someone who is suppose to protect you. But instead it is killing everyone who gets in the way and becomes a thing John always has to look out for. Robert Patrick did a great job as he seems like a pure machine. No emotion, just getting the job done.

He's the classic bad guy. He manipulates people to the dark side, lies, kills, and even has a great evil laugh. I remember as a kid even being a little scared of him even with him looking like he is over 100 years old. Then in the prequels, he somehow got scarier even though he looked like a defenseless old man. All he wants is full control of the galaxy for the Sith, by any means. You can tell he just loves doing evil. Even something as simple as just the look in his eyes let's you know not to mess with him. For most people he forms our earliest view of evil, and usually stays with us for a long time.

Every movie that has a crazy gangster/thug ready to go off at any minute at even the slightest perceived insult, can thank this movie and Joe Pesci. People tend to remember that "Funny How?" scene at the greatest demonstration at just how evil and scary he is. For me though, it's the dinner table scene that really terrifies me. DeVito is shown being loving and joking with his mother and acting like any good son.................with the body of a half dead man in the trunk of his car. Tommy seems like a fun guy till you piss him off. He might be short but he probably could take you on in a beat down.

Even though he may act like a family man there is an underlying darkness there brought out by alcohol and the hotel he is stuck at. Once the craziness starts he really does become a caged animal. He really does become a dangerous man to be stuck with as he becomes possess and "dull".

Once you gain any hint of fame, this movie probably becomes even more terrifying. Kathy Bates deserved all the awards you won for this role as it still is scary till this day. She can be sweet, somber, and mad as hell. I think it's those times when she was sweet when it was really scary. You just knew at any minute that, that sweetness would be dropped. There were times where I wasn't sure if James Caan would survive because she always had the upper hand.

One of the worse things you can be is corrupt. And Alonzo Harris is that to a tee. Murders, steals, and does whatever he wants under the protection of his badge. He abuses his power and is a true scumbag. He does all this with a cocky smile on his face.

Heath Ledger transforms himself into The Joker to the point you look at The Joker like he is an actual person. All The Joker wants is chaos and anarchy. And the scariest thing is he really gets in your head and stays with you.

Out of all the villains on this list, this is probably the saddest one. She seems like she didn't have to become who she was. Maybe if she had a better childhood, none of the events would have happened at all. But still, she is no less psychotic and absolutely horrifying in what she does. I think it is the unexpected turn the movie takes that really sells just how bad she is. She seems like such a meek person but she turns into something out of a nightmare. Even if the movie wasn't as violent as it was, she would still work as a villain.

Everyone talks about Hannibal Lecter but it was Buffalo Bill who was the true villain of "The Silence of the Lambs". Never happy with the way he is or was, he kidnaps and tortures women so he can make a woman suit for himself. A true boogeyman!

This guy is such a creep! A hitman who also moonlights as a crime scene photographer he truly enjoys killing and being around dead bodies. There is a great scene he has with Tom Hanks in a diner where he plays a little game with him even though he knows who Hanks is. Jude Law really brought an underrated villain to life.

A killer and everything that is wrong with capitalism all rolled into one. He's a smug asshole but you can't help but be intrigued by him and love every minute he is on screen. Bateman is like the evil that is hidden in our society. It hides behind a smile but inside it is empty and only wants to bring misery to the world.

Frank Booth is truly a crazed animal. His constant inhaling of a mysterious drug has warped him into something almost not human. A violent rapist, this is someone who should have been put down like a rapid dog a long time ago.

The true personification of greed and what people do to get it. Daniel Plainview only cares about one thing and that is: making more money. He also seems to be doing it because he has "a competition in him". Plainview also has a way with words and can play you before you know what hit you.

A true tyrant! Her power comes from her words and the way she can tear down someone just with what she says. She perfectly captures fascism and is like a dictator over the hospital wing she runs. Louise Fletcher deserved the Oscar for her portrayal of such a despicable human being.

Harry Lime could have been lawyer, politician, teacher, actor, etc. No matter what job he would have, it would be all about him. He only cares about himself and doesn't care about the people he hurts along the way. It's made all the more horrible in that he seems like a charming and friendly guy. He is the type that would pat you on the back then stab you in the back. It really helps Orson Welles plays him cause you can't help but be captivated by him even though every word out of his mouth is bullshit.

Even when he was just a kid, this guy was dangerous. Less about money and more about the power and fear he has and craves over a slum. Very unpredictable and a loose cannon.

Of course he was going to be on this list. He's a Nazi! But more than that he is an opportunist. He does whatever he can to survive so you never know what he is truly thinking. One look from this guy will send shivers down your spine.

Number one rule with this guy is to not get on his bad side. I won't spoil it but what this guy does to the protagonist in "Oldboy" is horrifying. There is nothing more dangerous than a determined, demented human being out for revenge.

Anytime you have a crazed murder and add religion to it you know he is going to be a great villain. A con man and a preacher he is something out of someone's nightmares. He kills because "the book is full of killins". Robert Mitchum truly help create a classic villain.

My favorite villain of all time! I am not sure that I would even call Anton Chigurh human. He is like Death itself with all the bodies he piles up. Chigurh seems like though that he doesn't enjoy what he is doing and is doing it more since he has to and it's his job.

These are in my opinion the best film villains of all time. I chose 20 so there would be a greater variety of evil.
