I think all the Suikoden games are excellent, but Suikoden 2 is generally overated. In terms of genuine emotional impact, the original is probably still the best, but overall I think Suikoden 3 is the best the series has had to offer so far. The 3-way storyline, the quality of the story, the sense of exploration, and the level of challenge make Suikoden 3 stand out the most. Suikoden 2 was a great game with a good storyline, but it re-hashed too much from the original Suikoden and didn't offer many new experiences in its gameplay.
