Some great choices here, and a number of the same films as my list. Two weeks ago I had no interest in seeing Blue Valentine. It's becoming more and more obvious by the day that I was wrong :)
Ooh, we DO agree on our top two, great list! I actually struggled in deciding which one to place at #2 and which one to place at #1. It's impossible to compare the two movies, but I'm glad that there's someone else who loves Blue Valentine. I think it sucks that it's gotten such limited exposure and that that'll probably affect its potential at the Oscars.
As for The Exploding Girl, it's um, definitely not for everyone, but considering you liked Blue Valentine so much, you might like it. The Exploding Girl is a little less grim, but it's still one of those relationship dramas that thrive on realistic dialogue. Zoe Kazan is wonderful in it.
