1. Never Let Me Down Again - Depeche Mode
80000 fans ) is waving their hands, beatifull! Also listen split mix (or 12 inch mix), +9 min version with instrumental sections in the middle and begin, just Epic!

Martins guitar riff starts the song perfectly

2. Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode
DM is propably best known for this song, MTV did play it continuosly. Song it self was ahead of its time.

Also music video is rather special, lead singer Dave Gahan walking around beatiful places, dreassed as king carring a deck chair, looking for hes kingdom.that video is those early day memories from childhood, i did forget it for over decade, but then Depeche mode fever hit me again.

3. Walking in My Shoes - Depeche Mode
Violin like sound put up with mechanical rock sound is something rather special, touching on its own way, its delicate and fragile - Just what you could expect from this band.

cold chills went through me when i firts time saw live show from 'Devotional', just when the birds starts to walk on projection - Anton corbijn and Depeche mode is winning compination.

4. Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
"Depeche mode, but not as you know it" - Alan wilder.

Correct! rock song that made other songs sound like dozen product. Song is simple, but when you take earphones, and start to listen it, you will find multiple layers on the song making it unique. Simple drumm line, base line, lyrics but still so far from ordinary.

5. Stripped - Depeche Mode
Black celebration album could be the turning point of Depeche Mode. Its the 5th album of the band, released in 1986, something way diffirent than past 4 albums. Its rather dark - little gothic maybe - and it included much more sampling than before.

Song 'stripped' start with Dave's porsche starting and then its goes on to sampled motorcycle engine. Album has 'walking in my shoes' like sound atmosphere, added with Daves superb voice with Marting Gores lyrics and seamless play between Gore, Andrew Fletcher and Alan Wilder.

By the way: Music video for Quetion of time was done by Anton Corbijn and it was first work from Corbijn to Depeche mode

6. Suffer Well - Depeche Mode
i could had choosen Precios for this spot, but i desided to go for Suffer well. Guitar riff and synt loop is better in my opinion. and the tour that followed Playing the angel (called Touring the angel) was a huge hit, braking the record for most sold concert tickest in European leg. Not bad for band that never been considerd as mainsteram band!

7. Everything Counts - Depeche Mode
From 3rd album - a broken frame - comes Everything counts, first really clear statment from Depeche mode is about modern (in the 80's) way of doing business.

enough about the message, more about the song: really great song! quiet timeless, listen the touring the angel; live in milan, Over 20 year old classic had few modern elements, but it was still the same everything counts than on the original album. And growd was still thrilled on tour!

8. I Feel You - Depeche Mode
Depeche mode rock as possible! This is the song to play loud when you really want to make a number of yourself!

From Songs of faith and devotional comes the most rock song from Depeche mode so far. Just pure rock with that famous DM touch. Martin Gore moved more and more towards guitar player from synth player and the peak point of Gores guitar playing on album was propably on this album.

General opinion about Songs of faith and devotion is that it never did reach potential like Violator did although it was nro #1 in UK and USA, propably 'cuse it was maybe slight more solid package than Violator - missing low points and highest possible peaks. Who cares? when this is played live, you feel like your hair is strating to fall

9. Sounds of the Universe (CD + DVD) - Depeche Mode
Wrong -single from "Sofu"

Wrong isnt a karaoke song, its a song that proves just how talented singer Dave Gahan is. Wrong has slight rap influence in my oppinion, i hate rap i admit it, but Wrong is whole diffirent world, DM can provide much deeper songs than 'real' rap artists, its more than just a simple loop and words song onto it.

Sofu as an album is much diffirent than Playing the angel. Sounds of the univers is closer Gahans solo album 'Hourglass' than playing the angel. Gahan has much more output on album, making it lack Gores and Fletchers synt loops that pops to ear, album is more rock than synthpop, bit Audioslaveish.

Its not bad album! and i feel that it just gets better more you listen it. Waiting the Tour of the Universe!

10. Dream on [CD 1] - Depeche Mode
Exciter has been a flop for some people.

Nope, nope! i dont sign this accusation. maybe people were waiting something way diffirent (i feel same about sounds of the universe), result how ever is clean and stylish. maybe dream on doesnt represent that light jazzy sound from especially the few last songs from album, even though there is a small, smaaall piece of it too. Drums and guitars been dumped to storage while doing the album (and taken back for Exciter tour!) but it doesnt bother!

Works like a charm when you are driving your car on night, its dark and Depeche mode plays on CD player!
DaViega's rating:

10 isnt enough, but line needs to be drawn somewhere.
