1. The Cure [DELUXE EDITION W/ DVD] - The Cure

Where: Bobcat Arena, Charlotte NC
When: 6/16/2008

Why Top 10: This band has been on my must-see-list for years. Pulled some major strings to get the night off work, made the 2 hour drive with my girlfriend and another pregnant friend (Gotta love sober-drivers). They played nearly 3 hours, and well, it was AMAZING. Robert Smith can still wail!!

2. Day I Forgot - Pete Yorn

Where: Multiple Venues, Minneapolis, Charlotte
When: 4 times in the last 5 years

Why Top 10: He's one of the most under-appreciated major-label musicians working today, and one of my very favorite musicians. And getting to meet him after one of the shows was pretty cool.

6. Alkaline Trio - Alkaline Trio

Where: Multiple Venues, (RIP Firefox Coffee Lounge) Minneapolis, Charlotte.

When: 7 times in the last 11 years

Why Top 10: I know their new stuff sucks, but I'm pretty sure I was the first person in my high school to own "goddammit"

Where: The Orpheum, Minneapolis, MN
When: god, 6 or 7 years ago I suppose

Why Top 10: Costello is an amazing musician and showman. He had the audience under a trance, and can still bring the rock for an old man.

8. Face To Face: Shoot the Moon (The Essential ... - Face to Face 2006

Where: Multiple venues, warped tours, Minneapolis, Chicago

When: 7 times between 1998 and 2005

Why Top 10: Imagine Face to Face calling Matt Skiba of opening act Alkaline Trio on stage during their encore sing vocals while they play "Bikeage" by the Decendents. It's a punk-rock wet-dream come true. And it happened at First Avenue, Minneapolis in 2000 and I was there.

9. Nine Inch Nails Live - And All That Could Ha... - Nine Inch Nails

Where: Target Center, Minneapolis MN

When: Spring 2000

Why Top Ten: Because it's fucking Nine Inch Nails. And they hadn't toured since 1995. Incredible show. Incredible.

10. Bad Religion: 1980-85 - Bad Religion

Where: Multiple venues, festivals, Minneapolis MN, Sommerset WI, Chicago IL

When: 4 times 1999- 200?

Why Top 10: The Promise Ring opened one of their shows, which makes little to no sense, but for me it meant getting to see two of my favorite bands for one low price at one smallish music venue.

These are the most memorable for one reason or another.

Nice list my friend. Seeing Somerset, WI, under Bad Religion makes me wonder if you went to Skatin with Satan there in 1998. Because I did and it was awesome.

Nope, wasn't there. My first real concert wasn't until exactly a month later when I saw Blink 182 (shut up) Mxpx and Homegrown at the Quest in MPLS.

Come to think of it, I'm not actually sure I saw Bad Religion at Float Rite Park Amphitheatre at all... I'm thinkin of the New America tour at Midway Park in St. Paul.

I saw Rancid, LTJ, and a number of others at Somerset during a different Warped Tour, a year or two later... at least I think that's right. It was hot as balls, and the Rancid pit was a dusty, dirty mess. And LTJ staged the biggest 'circle pit' train ever. That wasn't the same show you're talking about, right? Cuz now I'm a bit confused...

Ah...nah Skatin with Satan was definitely 1998. That was the only year Ozzfest toured & didn't play Texas, so when I found out they were playing Float Rite at the same time as Warped Tour my best friend & I made a road trip. The ticket was only $50 and we had 6 or 7 stages of music to check out. I think it was around 80 for a high that day, so it was beautiful.

But most of all I remember seeing metalheads & punks hang out together without any fighting (or if there was any I didn't see or hear about it). And the line-up for both tours was sick...we saw Bad Religion, Deftones, Cherry Poppin Daddies (during which a dude in a White Zombie shirt swing-danced with his grrl), Soulfly, Tool, System of a Down, Rev. Horton Heat, and part of Ozzy's set. Plus several other metal bands on the Ozzfest side that I liked then but don't care about anymore. :P

I love LTJ. The last time I saw them was at Warped a few years back & they said they wanted to see a circle pit because they hadn't seen one all day for any good bands...which I guess meant they're not fans of Every Time I Die, who'd had a circle pit during their set ahead of LTJ haha.
