Note: This movie is really creepy and it has one of the best perfomances ever. Jeremy Irons portrays 2 different twins so well that if even though they are identical, you can easily identify them. The story is fascinating as well.
Note: It is my favorite Indiana Jones movie. There is a great chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, there are loads of cool action scenes and the story is very captivating. A great classic.
Note: It is not one of the best animated films, it is actually of the best films ever made, period! It is really heartbreaking and one of the few times I almost bursted into tears. A powerful story beautifully animated.
Note: This movie is little forgotten nowadays but it's a shame. It has one of the best soundtrack ever. The story, the directing and acting are just amazing and it's just a really mesmerizing picture.
Note: I always loved Spike Lee's movies and this one is definitely his masterpiece. It is a simple story but there are so many layers, it is just fascinating.
Note: It is my favorite war movie. It is at the same time entertaining but also challenging with 3 dimensional characters. A dark description of warfare.
Note: Al Pacino is huge and very mercurial in this movie. The story of a loser from Cuba who tries to make it big in America but ends up still a loser. A spellbinding story

Other movies which almost made the list :
These are the best movies I have seen which came out between 1980 and 1989.
Great list. Last Crusade is my favorite too...thought I might be alone on that for a while there. Haven't seen Dead Ringers yet. On my Netflix Queue. Grave of the Fireflies is a nice, unexpected touch.
Great list especially with Do The Right Thing on there but have never liked Paris, Texas. It should've been so much more affecting than it turned out to be.
you should include COMMANDO!! hehehe
